As mentioned earlier in another post, Canadian former racer Jerry Barber has loaned me some of his photos.

Barber in his Alfa Romeo leads Bob "Mush" Michael in his Fiat and, I think, Chuck Blaylock in his MGA (with modified bodywork), as they go into the Carousel at Westwood (it isn't raining!) in 1961. Look at that view...that's the mighty Fraser River in the distance, and Mount Baker would be off to the left. In the second photo, taken by me almost fifty years later, Jerry adopts the "Etancelin" look in Frank Anderson's Alfa at the Westwood Reunion barbecue at the British Columbia Historic Motor Races at Mission in July of this year.

The spectacular view at Westwood could be a problem at times. I recall coming over Deer's Leap in the middle of a race and my eyes being drawn by the vista before me--fortunately I remembered I was doing over 120mph and approaching a hairpin bend in time to deal with it!

In 1962, Jerry went to England and purchased a Lotus Formula Junior. He says it was the car that Peter Arundell had driven to the 1961 championship. He and later owner Eric Faulks referred to it as a Lotus 20B. I understand that some Lotus 20Bs ran in other classes, but in North America in 1962, I believe there were a number of Lotus 20Bs (updated 20s?) running in Formula Junior. In late March and early April, he raced the car at Goodwood, Silverstone, and Oulton Park before bringing the car to Canada. His best results were ninth at Silverstone and eighth at Oulton Park.

This photo shows Barber in the #6 Lotus coming out of Woodcote at Silverstone. That appears to be Bill Bradley, who finished second in the #2 Cooper T59, overtaking Jerry. Lynton Money photo.

There was a Lotus 20B Vince, apparently a beefier one designed to take bigger engines

Jerry in his 300SL at the 1962 Mount Douglas Hill Climb here in Victoria, B.C. He thinks the 300SL went to Harrison, BC, and then to Texas. He'd love to find it.

June 17, 1962, Portland Rose Cup...Competition Press: "...In the 45-min F-Jr contest Pat Pigott (Rosebud Lotus 22 ) led the first lap. In lap two Pigott made one of his rare mistakes and, with part of the car's fiberglass nosepiece missing dropped to 5th. Taking over the lead was Jerry Barber (Lotus 20B). Barber led for a half hour while Pigott worked his way back up to 2nd. Then Barber went out with ring gear trouble allowing Pigott to cruise around to 1st..." In the first photo, Barber leads Bob McLean (Cooper), Ed Leslie (Gemini), Bruce Eglinton (Lotus), Rob Nethercutt (Lotus), Pigott, and Chuck Blaylock (Lotus). The second photo shows Barber leading Pigott (second photo by Ted Langton-Adams, copyright Eric Faulks)

Barber leads Ken Finnigan, Falfinn-Climax, into the hairpin at Westwood in 1962, date unknown.

Jerry said he has more photos he will let me borrow in the future.

I know this is a while ago but I have some info on this: 20-J-909's customer was Scuderia Centro Sud in Italy, it was not a Team Lotus car according to the records I have access to. So the engine number may match but sorry to say it is not a Pete Arundell car, so far as I can ascertain at present.

I have a feeling Martin's car is a 22, isn't it?
