If it is all caught in time, then he will be ok. Painful but knowing the female version, it will be fine. As long as he recovers ok then that is fine.

Get well soon.

Just a little bump to see I've seen Dean posting messages about starting training again

Am I correct in thinking ISR said he could have a 2012 seat in WSR, all being well ?

Great news! Fantastic that he is in good health now, the news he is back driving is just a bonus, a good bonus of course but the main thing is he appears to be in the clear.

Here's hoping there's no after effects and he can get right back into it.

Dean has been back in training for a couple of months or so, he regularly (pretty much daily) puts messages up on facebook. He seems pretty excited about the test next week (understandably!) and had lunch with the team boss today. Lets hope he has a good test!

Indeed, it was very disappointing that he didn't get his chance in World Series by Renault last season - and his seat was taken by Nathanaƫl Berthon, who is now in GP2 with Racing Engineering. Stoneman's still young, hopefully the year out won't have affected him too much. But it's good just to see him behind the wheel.

Stoneman took up powerboat racing this season, and he has just won the P1 SuperStock UK powerboat title!

I know driver threads have been banned since this was last posted in but i feel it deserves bumping.

After everything Dean has been through he made his full time comeback this weekend in the UK Porsche Carrera Cup, took pole this morning and won the first race (in the snow!) this afternoon, a great comeback story!

And he's just won race two! Not the worst series debut ever. Think he might have a future in Carrera Cup/GT racing, who knows, maybe he'll end up on the F1 support bill one day.

I bet the baby jebus wished he could pull off comebacks that impressive. ;)

Well done to him. Maybe he has a future as one of Porsche's factory drivers.

Really good to see him back - seems like a genuinely good guy and clearly has lost none of his talent. The F1 dream may be over, but the speed is still there and I hope he can carve out a successful career as a GT driver.

His car stuck out due to lack of sponsors. Hopefully this result will get him the media attention to get some more.

I would urge anyone who has not already done so to read this article (which was also printed in last week's Autosport magazine).

Seconded! Fantastic story and really brings home just how serious the situation was for him.

Just great to hear he's back. Can Stoneman still make F1 you think? I really hope so.

Very unlikely, i suspect he'll go the Le Mans route initially with the GT's before trying out the prototypes. I think F1 would of been a stretch for Dean even before his diagnosis, he's good but i'm not sure he would of made it.
