Thank you Rainer and Christmas salutations from a sunny, but cold (-20 deg C) Edmonton.

BTW, what is the covering below the driver's seat? Some sort of protection, insulation for the split drive unit?

All this talk of cold and snow at Christmas time?

It never snows at Christmas, not even in the mountains.

Everyone knows that Christmas is a time for cool garden salads and iced drinks on the balcony, outdoor barbecues, and frolicking in the backyard swimming pool.

Merry Christmas to all from - as the lady from the Spanish motoring book shop put it - "Down-and-Under" (but definitely not down and out).

I look forward to reading all that is interesting in motor racing history on The Nostalgia Forum in 2001.

Excuse me while I go and adjust the air-conditioner; if it gets any warmer in here I'll have to spend the afternoon in the pool...

Don't you just hate these people who have it warm at Christmas while we are freezing out b***s off!!

Seasons Greetings to all Forum members, and thanks to all of those who helped me increased my knowledge in 2000.

Rob (from a cold and chilly England)

Hear, hear, Rob.

Having just emerged from 56, (YES FIXTY-SIX) consecutive days when it rained, I get the right hump when I listen to these Antipodeans going on about warmth at Christmas.

It's jealousy, of course, pure, unalduterated jealousy.

Pretty british weather here in Sweden too, Rob and Barry...

Stockholm had 8 hours of sunshine in November, and we have not seen much more in December either...

I guess our friends on Hawaii and in Australia has been more fortunate...hahaha.....:)

Here's my "Zalig kerstfeest en gelukkig nieuwjaar" from the Netherlands, where a white Christmas is very much on the cards.

And I'm sure Felix, Leif and Rainer will grant me the pleasure to hand our combined best wishes to all at TNF on behalf of all at 8W!

Cheers,
Mattijs

From Portugal: Merry Christmas to all the members.
Thanks for the most interesting forum!
Tomorrow I should take one or two hours on the beach
taking a beer and thinking on you all!

BTW, has ever anyone think about what could be a picture
with every member in there, just like a family picture?! Should be fantastic...

The truth is, I have always dreamed of experienceing a traditional "White Christmas" - just like those I always see in the movies.

One of these years...

Rainer's mention of Sweden brought back some memories.
I have been to Gothenberg (the home of Volvo) when the harbour was frozen around the ships. When we were flying there, the aircraft captain suggested we look down to see people walking across the ocean between Denmark and Sweden. This was 1980s and apparently it happens only rarely.
All the Volvos and Saabs parked in the streets had electric power lines running from the house to the engine heaters to keep them from freezing.

Usually, we went to Sweden in the summer time.
Even then, I remember one occasion when two ladies had offered to take me on a guided tour around Gothenberg. That morning they phoned and said, "Sorry, we have to postpone." I asked why and they said, "Because the sun is shining".
They then explained that when the sun shone on a day they were not working, they had to go to the beach to sunbake. They didn't get too many opportunities for that, apparently.

I love Sweden, still have many friends there, and hope to go back again some time.

Merry Christmas (feliz navidad, in spanish) to everybody in this wonderful forum.

Mexican weather is awkwardly cold this winter... not Londo-like though :)

Best of things to everyone for the next year

Here in Auckland, New Zealand, it's raining; but at least it's warm.

It's raining in Cheshire, but there's nothing new in that. I'm off to Scotland.

Best wishes and many thanks to one and all.

Dashing Through The Snow

Happy Holidays Everyone!

Perhaps we could use this thread for exchanging great images of cars and snow... Anyone have anything more nostalgic to share?

Richard, Happy Holidays to you as well, my friend!

Growing up in New England 50+ years ago meant that most of my auto-und-schnee memories aren't particularly pleasant. In those days before snow tires, remembrances of putting on/taking off/ putting on tire chains are the stuff of nightmares. And living on a farm meant shoveling/plowing lots of snow before much motoring got underway. I can still remember helping my dad light small fires under our Farmall tractor to get it warm enough to crank on those 10-below mornings!

Perhaps I should've titled this "Why I Live In Georgia"!

But I appreciate your photo and the sentiments it engenders.

To quote a well-known Irish radio presenter....

"They are not all locked away yet, are they?"

On a very Christmassy note, here is a beautiful image, taken by Tyrrell P.34 at the Ring (after Hatzenbach going to the Flugplatz and Quiddelbacher Höhe) at the Nurburgring just a week or so ago..

Fellow TNF'rs
A Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all of you. It's been a very valuable experience getting acquainted with the sport of car racing around the world with the help of fellow fans.
Here on the West Coast of Canada, Vancouver, we don't usually get any snow, but as I look out the window I see a few flakes gently falling. Maybe we'll hit the jackpot and have a snowy Christmas.
Cheers,
Mike
