I was just wondering how many tracks there were that had sections where one part crossed over the other, since the whole idea seems slightly dangerous. Suzuka and Oran Park (unless it is now deceased) are the two I can recall. Of course the old Monza oval passes over the current layout. Has anyone ever fallen off the overpass onto the lower section of track on a layout like this?

Balcarce and San Juan in Argentina.
Hameenlinna in Finland.

East Germany had many tracks at a "Autobahn-Kreuz" with overpass.

Jean-Pierre Sarti (Yves Montand) fell down from the Monza banking onto the track underneath, but that does not count? :drunk:

Oran Pk has gone, a victim of housing.
No other cross over tracks in Australia that I am aware of.

Woody point, but in a different way...

You need a map to work it out. Of course, it's long gone now.

Just thought of another, St Cloud in Paris, though strictly speaking the upper road was on top of a tunnel carrying the lower road ( Nowadays the A13 from Paris to Caen which bisects the Rouen Les Essarts circuit and was the reason the post 1971 link was built )

More than slightly dangerous; if I recall correctly, a fatal accident at the crossover was one of the precipitating events for its closure.

The exit of pit lane at the Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi crosses underneath turn 1.

My pdf-file Rennen! Races! Vitesse! covers questions like this, you can download it from my website http://www.wegcircuits.nl. In this case page 114 is what you are looking for.

Edit: the info is now in a different pdf-file called the Racing Circuits Factbook - see post #16 further below.

The Sankt Wendel motorbike road circuit should have had an overpass IIRC.

Yes, but only the version used from 1982-1984, Duc-Man.

My Racing Circuits Factbook pdf-booklet lists all known tracks with an overpass on page 58. Download via:

Living just 60km away I made it there only once due to my youth. Even while they were not overpassing the track they still had to go over a bridge that went across the other road (B41) they used. During lunch-break they had some race cars trying if the track was suitable for cars for a proposed DTM event...that never happened.

Sankt Wendel indeed featured on an early draft of the 1990 DTM/German F3 calender, but as you say that race never took place. They did have super karts and rally events there.

And I do remember figure 8 racing in the 60s, a shortlived thing though in a few countrys.
