GP3 and rFactor.
I drove a 1000 races online on Moto Gp3... seriously. When my Xbox account reported me that, I thought: I seriously need to get a life. Now I race rFactor about 1 hour a day, for a year or so.
So...
Moto Gp 3 and rFactor

Sportscar GT PC (slightly over 10 years but better than GPL from that era IMO )
Liveforspeed PC (had a lot of fun with the demo version online)
R Factor PC (enjoyed racing the lower single seaters the most and the kart mod blowing away bigger cars ;) )
Metropolis Street Racer Dreamcast, pushed the genre forwards just as much as Gran Turismo, if not more.
Any Mario Kart game played with family in the same room
and a big shout to the arcade conversion of the incredible Daytona USA for its atmosphere, because realism isnt always the most fun

The game ive played most the last 10 years is probably F1CE, but favorite ever has to be road rash 2. God knows how many hours of my youth was spent on that game!
I loved Road Rash. I spent a lot of time on the PS1 F1 games, and GT2.
F355 challenge on thew Dreamcast.
I also played a lot of a Lemans game on the PS2, forget the title now.
Recently, Burnout was fun. GRID was well done for an arcade game, and NFS Shift was also fun.

'Le Mans 24 Hours' ported from Dreamcast (originally planned for PS1) by Infogrames and Melbourne House (ported to PC later by Torus)
I've heard people say it was the best Dreamcast racer but didn't get on with it personally.

Having said all of that, I enjoy racing against people rather than AI and am really enjoying iRacing at the moment.

Ive got a wide variety of favorites, from sims to arcade/fantasy racers. In no particular order, these are the ones I remember investing some serious time into:
• Gran Turismo 3 and 4 (GT5P as well)
• Scud racer Arcade (probably late 90s, but remember playing it heaps in ’00 at the Uni cafe)
• F355 challenge Arcade/dreamcast. Was wicked playing with clutch, stick and the force feedback! Wasn’t the same on DC but still loved the fact I could take it home and play. ( I miss playing Sugo)
• Fzero GX on GC, never finished it, also preferred Fzero X on the n64
• GTR on PC. Loved playing that series and the graphics/realism was something that wasn’t around for consoles. Refreshing and challenging. Only bummer I never got the wheel to work properly and hampered my enjoyment, somewhat.
• Mariokart DS. Best Mariokart game in aaaaaaages, played it, finished it and did time trials as well!
That’s what I can remember, maybe reading other posts might trigger my thoughts and remind me of other games.

Well, looking back, that was the era when the PS2 just arrived, dreamcast was established and PC, well, I cant remember the specs back then. (I probably had an overclocked Celeron at about 1Ghz).

McLaren F1 vs Ferrari F40, I remember it well - I was playing that around 1998.

F1 Challenge '99-'02, rFactor.
I just won that one on eBay and I should get it tomorrow since I missed the mailman the other say cause he only rung once I suppose. Hoping that my crappy PC can run it although I've no clue about the required OS.

The game is 7 years old, I'm sure it will run fine. From what I know it runs on all OS's from XP to 7.I just won that one on eBay and I should get it tomorrow since I missed the mailman the other say cause he only rung once I suppose. Hoping that my crappy PC can run it although I've no clue about the required OS.

It wasn't until I tried netKar Pro that I was convinced racesimulations one day would become almost real.
netKar Pro by a long long stretch for me.

The AI were horrid and the physics fairly bad, but I enjoyed that Le Mans game as it had lots of cool cars and nice day/night transitions. There was another game for PS2 that I enjoyed, I can't remember what it was called, but it had a "career mode" where you eventually got to LMP cars and I remember driving the Panoz LMP with a fantastic noise, wonder what that one was... I also played SCGT for too many hours, I remember the excitement as each new mod popped up adding different types of cars.
Total Immersion Racing.
It was actually one of the few endurance racing games to feature multiple classes on track at the same time. It used 5.1 engine sound to warn you of approaching prototypes.

Most of the time I have in spent in last decade, is Gran Turismo 4. First touch on Play Station was with Gran Turismo 3.
From PC I liked very much Need For Speed Porsche Unleashed. Pity it won't work with Win XP nor Win 7. GT-Legends was and is still fun with classic European racing cars and American muscle cars.

RallySport Challenge
YESSSSSS!!!
And many hours of Project Gotham Racing, Colin McRae, a pretty decent game that I can't seem to remember the name from Codies with the Australian V8's in it...

Oh yeah, NFS:PU was (is!) a great game - drove so many races there.
It worked for me on XP, i think there's some fix around anyway.

I never played GPL myself but have tracked down a copy. Gonna check it out.

When it arrived in 1998, it was so far ahead of its time in most respects, that it took all other sims at least 6 years to catch up. It took the mods (F1 1965, 1969, 1966) to keep it in business for sim fans, though. But apart from its direct descendant iRacing, it still has the most sensitive driver feedback system of all that's out there - you can *feel* when your rear outside wheel is hitting the paint stripes on the asphalt. For game code this old, that's still stunning.
Apart from that, currently running rFactor most because it has a good variety of mods (many are cr*p, but some really good, like HistoriX, Caterhams and vintage Formula Vee/Ford) and even more tracks available for it than GPL.
Also enjoyed Rally Trophy for off-road action, GTR2, and NFSU(2) for the great neon-lit city visuals.

V-rally 2 on Nintendo 64 was awesome. so hardcore. and very funny AI too. they crashed a lot, and it looked good.
Ricard burns rally: crappy with the controller but awsome with a wheel. as hardcore as it gets. miss it.
GT3: 99% controller only 1081hp supra!!!!!!!!!!!! good fun and lots of work to get that bugger down to 1.14 on Apricot hill.
GT4: 70-80% controller only. Useless game with a logitec steeringwheel.. reaction time was to slow with that mary go around steering rate. me and a friend used to go syncro drifting with the rally escort. or racing stock DTM mercs.
Rallysport challenge was a awesome game in all aspects we had several 4 player races.
S1 Pikes peak ftw! waap Waap! pifpif! i allways drove that thing even when the others had better or even when we drove rallycross.
Projekt gotham racing was awesome too.
That offroader inn the first halo.

I saw many familiar names in your results page. At the moment I´m already racing in rF, iR and GPL series in Trellet and unfortunately have no time for other series but I´ll be watching your league with interest. Maybe some day...
Keep up the good work!

1. F1 Challenge 99-02 (runs smoothly - lots of mods!)
2. GP2 (was addicted to this for a while in my late teens)
3. rFactor (Better than both of the above, but mods run a bit choppy on my PC)
4. GPL (Legendary game - but I'm rubbish at it, so I tend to come and go at it)
5. GTR (Awsome - but I recently lost the disc! - sob!)
Must admit though that the early Colin McCrae and TOCA games of the late nineties were also very good, albeit not sim games.
