Greetings from a wet and windy Isle of Man. Came to watch the TT first in 1960, then every year until 1975 when I saved the boat fare by staying!
Rode High-Speed trial meetings then British Formula Club on a Velo for a few years before emigrating to 'the road racing capital of the world'. Managed to get three rides and three finishes in the Manx. Built for comfort, not for speed so no noteworthy results!
Currently custodian of around a quarter of a million images of the TT and Manx GP through FoTTofinder Bikesport Archives.

Hi Bill, Dont be modest-you were in my first National Road Race at Jurby in 1976-the one with the long straight. We also go back to when you were clearing poor Arthur Lavingtons stuff after his death in the T.T.-I bought Webb girder forks,a tank and a Velo front wheel for my Triumph special from you.I still have the bike,Barbara was racing it in twisty sprints up to 2008. You were also a proper long distance trials man who did it the hard way on a street bike-respect.I have just seen in O.B.M. that the Saltbox M.C.C. are to have a reunion June 2011-as an old member I will go, perhaps you can too? Rotrax revealed! '76 I remember going back to Cadwell with you for a round of the Avon Production series after that Jurby meeting. Raced there then rode the bike back to Liverpool to catch the boat back to the Island for the rest of the TT. Wouldn't do it now with the Steam Packet fares!
Another memory is of arriving knackered at your shop one very warm Saturday after pushing another (fuel-less) Velo off the M4, then riding the National Rally that same day. My version of a 24-hour race.
Won't be able to get to the Saltbox do, some of the boys are coming here for the Manx next year so I will hear all about it. Regards to Barbara.
