'LOTS OF RAIN '
Rather than 'hope we get a session!'...

Remember a time when it'd be
'LOTS OF RAIN '
Rather than 'hope we get a session!'...
I know, a sad indictment on modern F1. I mean, none of us want to see anyone injured, but how can we go from "we [the drivers] won't object to qualifying or racing at Fuji in 2007" to "we refuse to run if the track isn't ready for inters"?
I loved Lewis on the Korea race edit with his - genuinely irritated sounding - team radio "well what do they expect - IT'S WET!" outburst. Made me love him even more!
As many have remarked, Pirelli might as well save a few bob and not bother developing or manufacturing "full wets", "extreme wets" or "monsoon" tyres as it is clear we now follow a series which "doesn't do wet".

Last night we had a very minor thunderstorm @ São Paulo around 8PM. The asphalt has now dried and the morning is looking beautiful now at 8AM.
There are lots of grey clouds and someone could expect rain from them. I personally do not see it this way.
My forecast: the hot summer sun will drive away the clouds and we will see a dry qualifying. Repeat thunderstorms between 4-8PM in the afternoon, when the sun is already going down.

Massa... pole... wet.
Massa and wet weather are in no harmony...Massa for me has a higher chance of winning the race on a dry Sunday than being on pole in wet during Qualifying...It is currently very cloudy at Sao Paulo and heavy rain is expected in the coming 2 hours or so........

Well, I was wrong: light rain started one hour ago. And if it starts in the morning it probably will not stop.
So new weather forecast for today: light rain for the qualifying session.

Best kind of rain for modern F1 qualifying it seems.Well, I was wrong: light rain started one hour ago. And if it starts in the morning it probably will not stop.

Sunday looks fairly likely to be dry so wonder if any teams/drivers will gamble on a wet setup for qualifying to bump them further up the grid than usual?
Could be an option for Button? Or maybe even Massa if Ferrari want to gamble on getting Massa ahead of the Red Bulls on the grid to try and hold them up in the race?

If the teams' forecast is for anything less that about a 20% chance of rain for the race, I can't see any of the front runners gambling on a wet setup. It is just too much of a compromise if the race is dry. At 20% or more then, yes Button could well make that decision.

Maybe Williams or FI will gamble on a full wet setup? A Barrichello pole would be pretty cool in front of his home crowd and Williams are in pretty dire need of sponsors.

I don't think so. The race is supposed to be dry so they need to explore the track for the wet qualifying later today. Heidfeld and Glock are out there and Schumacher is going to go out soon.I don't think we will see too much running.
Tyre preservation is too important if conditions are expected to be like this for qualifying.
