With this thread in mind I was irritated that I couldn't to the same location (tantalisingly just across the track) on Sunday. Same car 33 years later

Is that the same car or is it just a reimagination of the 1973 car?
I can understand the different tires and slightly different sponsor decals for the originals not being available anymore. But apart from that has the 'now' car a completely different front spoiler, another engine cover and even the colours seem to be different.

Difficult task...
Righto. Similar car (same make/model - Elfin MR8-Chev F5000). Different track (Oran Park 1980 I think) and Phillip Island 2011. Different driver - John Bowe and Bill Hemming.
But a similar angle. And a better camera and camera driver.

Also, there's never been any trees near the circuit, it was built too late for that allowance (1968, IIRC).

I'm fairly sure the second car is the UDT-Laystall team car (Chassis 3505) in all three images but I wonder if the lead car in 2012 is the Hill car by any chance.

The Autosport cover and Graham Turner print depict the 1963 TT, the Graham Hill Maranello car, 4399GT, is followed by Mike Parkes in the white John Coombs car, 3729GT.
The Maranello car, 4399GT, was rebodied to '64 Spec and is now owned by Sir Anthony Bamford.
The Revival photo shows the ex-Coombs 3729GT, now red and owned by Jon Shirley ahead of Craig McCaw in 3505GT now returned to its UDT Laystall colours having been sold to Dr Gunther "Placetta" in 1963 and painted red.
To sum up, the red car is now re-bodied, the white car is now red and the pale green car in the Revival photo was pale green became red and is now pale green again!

The start of the 1966 Belgian GP as seen on the sleeve of one version of the soundtrack LP with Bob Bondurant in the white BRM, c/n 2615 (ignore the colourised cars beyond!;) and at this year's Revival, 2615 again.

Bathurst 500, 1967, the Barry Sharp / Lindsay Derriman (Dodge Phoenix) holds up the Paddy Hopkirk / Brian Foley Mini.
Then last weekend, Moxo snaps this, by sheer luck. Not a Dodge, just a Capri - but the Mini's attitude at the same part of the track, is just the same...

Hope that works. Photobucket is having a tantrum.
