Having adored going to Macau 2 years ago, as soon as i heard Pau was back on next year, i knew i had to go.
Anyone here been before? Worth getting grandstand tickets or can you get good views for free?
Any info will be gratfully recieved. Cheers.

I dont think there are any places where the track is visible without a ticket, and I think I may have listed all of those.
This information is from memory from 1996, so some things may have changed slightly. If you need more info, put in another message, and I will try and find the programme and see if it has any more details.

How does a general admission ticket work at a street race on public land? In Macau you only needed to pay for grandstands. Do they rope off all the best vista's and charge then? hehe.
Website is finally up: http://www.grandprixdepau.com/
I was getting a bit nervous having booked flights/hotels already.

Think thats about right as far as I recall In Monaco you had to pay to go on the 'Rock' No free view unless you know someone with hotel, etc overlooking circuit.
Hi guys, thanks for your replys.

Booked tickets through the http://www.grandprixdepau.com/ website. Went for General Admission + La Gare grandstand seat for the whole weekend. Booked rail tickets ahead of time too via Rail-Europe.
I arrived by train from Bordeaux (which has the highest concentration of attractive women of any european city i have visted) on the Saturday morning. Spent most of Saturday wandering around and found some great 'no-access' areas to take some amazing snaps. They race til gone 10pm on the saturday which was great fun as the beer started flowing. Then there was a big festival/party thing at the top of the hill in town where we met some locals who took us clubbing.
Watched all of Sunday from the grandstand as there was a big screen and i was nursing a hangover. The stand is uncovered so take waterproofs! Had to leave halfay through the final race of the day (some national Pug series) to catch the train back to Bordeaux.
Fabulous weekend, fabulous race meeting. Would definatley go again, perhaps taking in Toulouse next time.
