News that the Crystal Palace sprint is to be held again in 2011

MOTORSPORT AT CRYSTAL PALACE RETURNS IN 2011 - DATES CONFIRMED
Sevenoaks & District Motor Club, in association with title sponsor the Ancaster Group, are pleased to announce that Motorsport at the Palace 2011 will return to the park on the Bank Holiday weekend of 29/30 May.

Following the success of this year's event - which saw over 5,000 spectators enjoy two thrilling days of motorsport - next year's event will be bigger and better, with over 200 historic, contemporary and thoroughbred racing cars in action. Electric and alternatively-fuelled cars will also battle it out in their own unique - if eerily quiet - class.

The unique Crystal Palace track proved a huge success with drivers and spectators alike, so expect to see 'veterans' pushing their vehicles even harder next year. Newcomers can get a feel for the track from the many excellent YouTube videos posted by this year's competitors.

Visitors will again be able to get close to the cars in the paddock, where drivers and mechanics will be on hand to chat about their vehicles and to comment on the challenging parkland circuit.

Roary the Racing Car will be making a welcome return, meeting younger guests in the popular Roary Zone, where a number of child-friendly activities will be taking place.

Elsewhere, numerous clubs and organisations will be displaying their vehicles, including the Colin Chapman Museum, the AA Heritage Collection, the Ferrari Owners' Club and the Historic Rally Car Register among many others.

In addition to bringing motorsport back to this historic venue, the 2010 event raised over £3,000 for local charities St. Christopher's Hospice and the Royal London Society for the Blind (RLSB), both of which will be beneficiaries of the 2011 event.

For more information on next year's event, please visit the website at: http://motorsportatthepalace.co.uk.

Motorsport at the Palace enjoys the support of: the Ancaster Group; Dale Process Engineering Ltd; and Rozone Sustainable Solutions.

Excellent news but also a little frustrating that this clashes with the Masters Historic Festival at Brands Hatch.

It is a sign of just how popular historic racing has become that there are these inevitable calender clashes, there are some unfortunate clashes also between VSCC and HSCC events in 2011.
