In the week after the 1978 South African GP the Wolf team conducted private tests at the Goldfields Circuit near Welkom, South Africa. Attached are a couple of photos from that day.
Does anyone perhaps know more about this test session? Any laps time perhaps? Perhaps AUTOSPORT or other publications mentioned it at the time. If so, we’ll be delighted to receive the detail.

Thanks this post .
It brings to mind the delights of front-line F1 cars running at such unusual/unlikely venues in a way that is sadly no longer within the rules.
I used to compete at Pembrey and sometimes a Williams transporter would appear late in the day and park up near the paddock entrance ready for testing the following day. On another thread there is mention of Rosberg and Piquet at Mallory in the early 80s and of Johansson testing the Spirit-Honda Turbo at Willow Springs. Indeed there is a book on Willow Springs which features photos of several pukka F1s on test there including Mansell in a Lotus and Jones in a Williams, which I guess were around the time of the Las Vegas GP.
