I can only give half an answer...

10 - Ford Mustang.

I only know that because I had a small involvement with a Group A Mustang. (including kidnapping one of Dick Johnson's Zakspeed cars to take photos of everything!)

I can confirm No. 7 as Doune, and unfortunately it has changed, the café is no longer what it was, the yum-yums certainly aren't...

Now you mention it, and whilst I cannot claim to have sampled the yum-yums in particular, the antique market is a lot less interesting than the old car museum. Hill is the same though

Would no. 10 be either Jean-Michel or Philippe Martin? I don't recall seeing Baby Bertha in an all-silver colour scheme before.

Well that about wraps it up, thanks to a good clue from brakedisc! When I posted No 10 I was sure the driver was Dennis Leech, but now I'm not so certain  , can anyone confirm or deny?, as I don't have a programme or report.

Anyway thanks for taking part, Cheers Ian

p.s. For a bonus point can anyone name the shady-looking character with the tash in pic 3?!! ;)

10 - Vince Woodman?

10 is intriguing. Assuming its Thruxton (?), would it be an end of year GT race, maybe '83 or '84. Looks like the CC Group A Mustang that they built around that time, but rarely raced as I recall. I think Woodman was involved in this. Baby Bertha next to it, did Phil Barak own it at this time? And as a guess, is that the Enderby Karmann Ghia behind them?

A Belga cigarettes sponsored Ford Mustang, driven by Philippe Martin, Jean-Michel Martin and Vince Woodman took part in two races in the latter stages of the 1983 ETCC: the Spa 24 hrs and the EG Trophy race at Zolder. I think that the same car (same colours and number 23 but with "Belga" replaced by "Esso") took part in the Tourist Trophy on 11 September (also an ETCC round) driven by Vince Woodman and Jonathan Buncombe.

This suggests to me that the car in the picture was the same one and that Vince Woodman was most likely the driver.

Thanks for the input guys and sorry for confusing everyone ( including myself! ) , but I'm pretty sure it's Nov 1983 Thruxton. I was helping a driver in the BBC Grandstand FF2000 Series which had rounds at Brands and Thruxton late in the year. Maybe someone has the relevant Autosport?? Cheers Ian

If I'm right, does anyone know why the car raced with Esso rather than Belga sponsorship at the Tourist Trophy (which was between the Spa and Zolder rounds) - and why it was back to Belga for Thruxton? The only explanation I can think of is that the Belga sponsorship came with the Martins, who didn't drive in the Tourist Trophy at Silverstone (why?). Would that mean that it was one of the Martins at Thruxton not Vince Woodman? Fascinating in a pointless sort of way!
