Q5 - NZ Classic Car - Roadside Relics
Q6 - ? Same as NZCC? Weren't they run from the same office at one stage?
Q16 - Accident was in practice for Italian GP (Monza). We were in Italy doing the great Kiwi OE at the time . I remember the newspaper billboards "Morte a 300 Kilometri" or something like, and people milling around in the streets talking about it.
Back with a few more later!

Ron a couple below ,really busy at the moment will try to get back with another couple if time allows16. As I understand it the reason for Rindt's accident was never definitely established, but the cause is thought to have been a broken front brake shaft.

Hi Ron, me again
Q 10 - Barney Pellow wanted $3400 for his Brabham. For another $600, you could have had Kelvin Cameron's BT21 instead. Sounds cheap, but was probably more than I was earning at the time(per year!)

Depends whether you mean his competition career or (as your question specified) his professional career. His first motor sport event (a trial) was in March 1947, when he was 17. His first race was in April 1948, when he was 18. His professional career began when he was paid to drive racing cars, which I believe is when he signed for HWM in the winter of 1949/50, when he was 20.i read s. moss started career at age of 18..but i.ll recheck and tell you where i got that..

Polly, of course. (Do I get another point for that?)hi tim again...(wots the name of the parrot ??0
As I said earlier, I don't think he could be classed as a professional driver until he was paid to drive other people's cars. However, he did start earning prize money on his continental forays, notably Lake Garda, in 1949, so maybe that's how they define 'professional', but even then that would have made him 19. As always, of course, the quizmaster's decision is final....2..australian classic car magazine..2011 yearbook number 210..

My good sir, Polly is deeply offended that you fail to recognise her ladylike qualities, and promises you a good ear pecking if you ever get within range. Anyway, who ever heard of a parrot called Bert?!i also think that tims parrot..on his photo dos.nt really look like a polly...looks more like a nigel..or even a bert..!!

Rough-as-guts journalism at times, if we're frank...but written from the heart, and certainly captured the feeling of each meeting, in a time when NZ motorsport was at its' peak. Wish I'd kept some.
