At Thruxton in 1977 at the Phillips Car Radio Formula 2 International Ricardo Patrese drove for Trivellato Racing Team the car entered as a Chevron Ferrari B40.
He finished a creditable 5th.
What is known of this unusual pairing of Chevron and Ferrari.?

Most of the other entries are BMW,Ford,Hart,Renault, but there was another Ferrari engined car that practiced but did not race, this for Gianfranco Brancatelli a Ralt -Ferrari RT1.

From memory Pete, there was a Trivellato Ferrari-engined Chevron and a couple of Ferrari-engined Ralts that season.

Pretty certain that Patrese stuck with the BMW engine though. That said, Lamberto Leoni won a late season race - in Italy of course - in the Trivellato Chevron-Ferrari, which caused more than a few raised eyebrows as none of the cars had shown much speed or reliability up until that point...

The program mentions that the engine was from a Dino and that they non started at Silverstone earlier that year , if i can get it scanned there was a photo of the engine in the program too.

Pete, lots of good stuff on the B40 Ferrari in the David Gordon Chevron book. Apparently there were many arguments between Bolton and Ferrari that summer...

It did in comparison to the raucous, snarling Renault, the booming BMW and the positively offensive Abarth in the back of Marazzi's Lola, which was awful to hear.

A Google search for "Ferrari F2 Minardi" will lead to a lengthy Forix article about same - per the "who, what, when, where" representation of the website.

He did (results) although if I remember rightly he did test the Chevron-Ferrari at Fiorano.
