I regret to report that former Connaught and Cooper owner/driver Dick Gibson passed away on December 17, aged 91.

Thanks for the news, Doug, it's very sad to hear that. I hope he had a great life in Cadiz. I believe that means that Tony Crook is now the oldest BRDC member, and probably there are only 3 men who have been members for over 50 years, Crook himself, Stirling Moss and Roy Salvadori.

Sorry to hear this news. Dick was one of only a few international drivers who competed in South Africa before World Championship F1 races became part of the racing year out here.

I recall that he lived in Airizona for several years...

Sad news, but a long and contented life, lived across the world. He did indeed live in Arizona - Mesa, to be precise.

Sorry then, Doug - it was Tony Crook who told me that. I must admit he also said that he is the oldest member and I didn't want to tell a 89-year-old (but still very sharp) man that he is mistaken.
