Need a bit of help. A friend has brought quite a nice painting on Graham Hill in the 49b at Monaco, 1968. The signature on it reads Kevin Lawler, but I am unable to find anything on the artist anywhere.

Is this just a fine painting by an unknown amateur or has anyone else heard of him?

Thanks in advance

I am familiar with him Steve. He is definitely a pro. He mostly paints in oil. Most of the work that I have seen of his dates from the mid-1990's. He painted for example Montecarlo Grand Prix, 1995: Alain Prost on the way to winning for the fourth time.

Hope this is helpful. It is often very difficult to find out about work held in private collections.

Edit: I have pm:ed you a link.

I found that on Google but that is presumably the picture your friend has just bought, as there is only one picture shown and this is G Hill Lotus 49 in 1968...! To get any meaningful data, one has to subscribe to the web site, which seems a bit steep...

And they sold three other paintings at Silverstone in June 2010.

55
Kevin Lawler 'Gilles Villeneuve',
signed, acrylic on canvas, depicting the great Canadian in a montage with his Ferrari 126CK, 90 x 60cm, framed.

56
Kevin Lawler 'Andrea De Cesaris Jordan 1991',
signed, acrylic on canvas, depicting this combination on the streets of Monaco, 50 x 70cm, framed.

Maybe not as prolific in oil as first thought! :)
