This is really sad news, even if not unexpected. He was such a pleasant guy, full of spirit and fun. A really tragic loss.

Was he not a protege of Stirling Moss? I seem to remember him running in a SMART Merlyn Mk11A Formula Ford in the 1969 season.

I wasn't aware he was ill, so this comes as some shock. Very sad news. Had a great infectious love for the sport and whilst not top-rank, he was very good in lower-formulae. He was probably a bit too old by the time F1 came around for him at his home country, otherwise he might've been more well-known generally.

RIP

Yes indeed (as confirmed in one of Pete Stenning's recent quizzes). He won seven FF races in 1969. He also took part in two (not one) Brazilian GPs - 1972 in a works March 711, and 1973 in a private Surtees TS9B. At one stage he was being touted as a prospect as good as Emerson Fittipaldi. RIP.

Sad sad news.

The first and the most exciting Brazilian rising talent of the day. Even more than the Fittipaldis, Pace, Friedrich and others (and he was older than them).

Sad news. Here I have a personal photo of Luiz Pereira, which I want to share with you, showing him at Interlagos 1987 together with Piquet and Fangio. Luiz explained the picture: Three generations, two big champions and me - a learner." Best wishes from Austria - Alfred

Hi there!!

First Round of Sud-Am Cup 1971, Buenos Aires:

From left to rigth, Luiz Pereira Bueno (Brazil, Porsche 908), in middle Luis Di Palma (Argentine, Berta LR-Tornado, won the race), and the brazilian Lian Duarte Barbosa, (Porsche 910).

After a big fight, the Argentine and his Berta-Tornado managed to defeat the powerful brazilian Porsches.,
