Does anyone know if George's daughter, Betty Eyston is still with us, and a possible location?

Was Elizabeth her first name? If so, I can trace under the Ancestry dot thing if she married or died. GETE is no problem to find, and her mother's maiden name was Olga M Eyre, married in Kensington in 1924 if I have found the right one so far.

From The Times: George Eyston and Olga Eyre were married at Brompton Oratory on January 14th 1924. Mrs Eyston was delivered of a daughter born in Kensington, September 30th 1928. I can't find any mention of another daughter though.

Josephine Elizabeth, thta's what has caused the problem, many thanks. Now to find them!

A chap in Eastbourne I sort of knew, re-published Safety Fast under the Vincent Publishing banner. He had George sign a few, and from memory had a few left, unbound. The shame chap owned the only Vincent car, the three wheeler with a bike bolted into the back as well as one of George Formby's Broughs.

I was in contact with Betty then, but lost touch, and met her father at Brooklands in 1973, a very gentle and humourous man.

FWIW I have found that she married a Gervase J G Elwes in Winchester in 1960, 3rd quarter. He was born in 1927 regd in Chelsea. There was what might be an older brother born in 1921, Jeremy Gervase .. Elwes, but he died in 1999. No records of their of their deaths that I can find on Ancestry, nor sign of Gervase or Josephine on the Electoral Roll, so perhaps they moved abroad. I have not tried the Times yet.

I have found a daughter, Magdalen Barbara, born '62 and seemingly named after her mother's sister, and son Geoffrey Joseph born '66. I cannot trace anything on the son, but the daughter married in 1997, but there is no trace on the electoral roll. Steve I will e mail you if you are still on the same contact

Elwes is hardly a common name
J C Elwes competed in long-distance races at Le Mans and Spa with Aston Martins in the 1930s, and also raced Austin 7s and MGs
Some relation?

There was an earlier Gervase Elwes http://en.wikipedia....i/Gervase_Elwes

There's a Ted Elwes who drives an MGA at Prescott.

That is how I saw it. IIRC Polly Elwes the TV presenter from yesteryear, who married Peter Dimmock, was the daughter of Judge Elwes.

Would that not have made it a four-wheeler with two engines? ;)
