Right guys, I hope you're all well. As many of you will know I'm a motorsport artist who has not been able to produce anywork due to being diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. Good news though, I'm having the best Physio and occupational therapy at the moment and have been able with some equipment to hold a paintbrush again!
So heres what I want from you all, as this is going to be a pretty important piece for me I want it to be of something very special that not only brings joy to me but to many others when they see it. If you could see a painting of any moment from any race, driver, team, era etc what would it be?
The most popular one will be the subject of this painting. I'll be posting images of this pieces progress throughout the process.
So get those Castrol R lubricated brains in gear and lets here your thoughts.
Looking forward to this.

For me that's an easy choice, orange McLarens, and Green Loti with a yellow stripe.

... Green Loti with a yellow stripe.

... driven by a bloke in a dark blue crash helmet. Alternatively, a nice silver Auto Union.

Now you're talking, and a dark red Alfa P3 with a mini-Tazio at the wheel would be good as well.

Glad that you're able to paint again.

How about something quintessentially English: ERA R4D at Shelsley Walsh

I know it's not your usual type of subject so it will be a challenge!

...at Old Hall, Oulton Park.

Or - Jackie Stewart's blue Matra coming out of the mist on the Nordschliefe during the 1968 German Grand Prix - something akin to J M Turner's The Fighting Temeraire is what I have in mind.

Really happy so far with this thread definitely getting some ideas. I'll pick my favorite 4 and then get you all to vote on which you think would be the best subject.
Just found the following images of some of my older work that I haven't shared before, here or on my website, hope you enjoy them.

Targa Florio- Chaparral 2F 1967.
Delta S4 RAC Rally 1986.
Peter Revson winning 1973 British GP
Gunnar Nilsson winning 1975 Cadwell F3.
Funny Cars at the Pod

All of above meant to be a little less obvious than the usual suspects for automotive art

"Gunnar Nilsson winning 1975 Cadwell F3." He didn't - or am I missing something here?

Danny Sullivan won in the works Modus, but the drive of the race that afternoon belonged to Dick Parsons who struggled to get past Nilsson for several laps, but then went on to finish third and set fastest lap, but only after Dick and Gunnar "fully" collided following quite a few previous attempts to do so!

God bless them both - I'm sure they are still discussing that afternoon.

Good one. painted that one myself.

Good luck MotorsportARTIST. My vote is the Gilles Villeneuve, René Arnoux wheel banging at Dijon 1979.

Cheers,

Indeed it has, countless times. My myself a number of years ago too which became a very popular Ltd edition print too.
I'll be deciding a couple of the 4 choices soon but still need more of your input.

Two subjects:

1) David Purley on his LEC, out of respect for the Man

2) Connew starting their first GP ever, out of respect to the Team.

Arnoux vs Villeneuve. Easy.

If Le Mans is the normal topic, Ford's 1-2 in 1966.

Or Ickx and Hermann in 1969.

Or if it's racing movies, Pete Aron and Jean-Pierre Sarti.

If you intend to appeal to specifically road racing fans.... have sales markets in the States.... wish to find a subject of passion to those who have funds to purchase, i.e., older and more affluent buyers.... then IMO the greatest road racing car of all time is Mark Donohue's Can-Am Porsche 917/30K.

I saw it race when I was 13, and 38 years later my memories of that car and driver surpass all others (despite Gilles Villeneuve being my all-time favorite driver, and seeing him win in Canada in 1978).

Those who witnessed the Sunoco 917/30K in person, and were old enough remember it, would now range from their 40s on up.

Your work is great, and I'd buy one even though I'm broke.

Thanks everyone you're all amazing and given me faith in the autosport board once more. As for selling my work that is going to be far into the future as I'm just physically not in a position to cope with that. I hope to god I will be after alot more treatment and care that I must thank the amazing NHS, MS Nurse, Neurologists and my GP for. I'd love to get back to running my own business again and be back where i was before this.....mainly as the care from the british government is non-existant to me....probably as I don't inject into my eyeballs and sit on my fat arse all day long ! I could rant more but I'll be a little more reserved hahah.
I'll do a poll on sunday and let you vote on the final 4 choices, the one with the most votes will be the piece i do. sorry for the terrible typing and bad grammer but feeling very fatigued today.
have the best day everyone

Ignore the "truth" at your peril... Frequency does not mean bland. It does not mean dull. It does not mean un-interesting. To do it justice, it requires a new approach.

I agree it's been done before, because it's iconic; so why couldn't it be done again?

Meanwhile, try a first lap, turn one picture. La source, Copse, Montreal? St Devote? any of those would provide passion and drama. The VFX approach (yes I've looked at the images  ) would work here too IMO.

I agree somewhat but I have done that moment from many different angles in the past and for this image I want something new something to challenge, so far on this thread i'm certainly getting that
