Long time South Australian motorsport commentator Tony Grove retired from commentary at the SA State twilight meeting last night at Mallala. The last race he called was a GpN race, cars that would have been modern when he started the job. That last race was called in partnership with Ann Ozgo [Annie Oz on TNF]

Tony has worked most sorts of SA events plus the GPs here and in Melbourne. And probably most Victorian circuits as well on occasion. He was a regular at Sandown when I raced there in the 90s.

The last few years is being a changing of the guard as the familiar faces are all retiring. Tony, Glen Dix to the forefront of the retirees.

I have known Tony as a fellow Austin 7 Club of SA member. He was one of the original members of that club.

It will be a bit different without him, Though I am sure Ann will keep up the continuity with her good work at Mallala.

Lee,i remember Tony well. He was my Wood Work teacher at Pulteney Grammar School.He used to bring his Austin 7 race car to school before heading interstate for the weekend. A true gentleman.

Tony has been a great friend and mentor for me, plus Liam and Mark who are the rst of the team.
It was great to see the Gp N guys all acknowledge Tony on their cool down lap, the tower (race control etc) applaud him as he left the tower and many people coming in to say thank you to him during the evening.
I have been truly lucky to work with such an enthusiastic, generous and knowledgable friend.
