Hi all, This is thread asking for information about my Grandad
He owned a 1973 Clubman F750 which he used to race in the 80s in the 750mc. At last years Race Retro show it was in the auction exactly how he sold it on with his name on the side and the same tyres.
It has been for sale again since then
Has anyone got any information about this car?
I just wondered if anyone knew who owns this car now? if it will be entered into the 750mc trophy series or racing anywhere else?
Here is one of the many adverts online about it...
http://www.classic-a....750-31043.aspx
and this is when he had it...
Thanks guys.

Unfortunately your link did not work (for me anyway).
If the new owner wants to race the car, pretty much the only places are the 750 Formula or the 750 Trophy (which it is just eligible for, the cut off date for old Reliant engined cars being 1974).
Both events are administered by the 750 Motor Club who have a good website. Maybe their Competitions Secretary could tip you off it it is entered in any championships.
The most recent photo shows the car with a blade on the front for breaking timing beams indicating it was used in sprints or hillclimbs. If that is how the new owner is using it, it could be in all sorts of events.
Good luck,
Steve

It was listed on www.carandclassic.co.uk last year, pictured on a trailer (under a tree I think)

Ah yes! well my grandad never used it for sprints. I will keep an eye out for any news on this being entered next year.
If anyone has or knows of where it is and who owns it I would be greatful.
Here is another picture of it in use.
Thanks once again.

I don't immediately recognise the car, but (as said in the link) most 750 formula cars were one-offs. Who was/is your grandfather? The resolution of the photo with the name on the cockpit side is not good enough for me to read it.
The auctioneer was confused about the provenence of Reliant engines as, although their sidevalve engine was developed from the Austin 7, the o.h.v. job shown was a completely new engine. Not that it matters, except to show that you can't take the auctioneer's description as evidence.

His name Is Keith Barrington, he use to race Minis in the 70s and then moved on to racing that car in the 80s. That's interesting, thanks for that.
This advert here gives a little more info about him.

I too don't immediately recognise the car in period and I'm sure I've not seen it race with us in 750Trophy (though its eligible). I have sent you a personal message about this.
