I am looking for photos of Pre War model MG's from the 1950 Australian Grand Prix at Nuriootpa, particuarly the N type driven by Max Galt of Melbourne which is now owned and restored by my father. It was a dark-coloured car with number 39 on the sides but only lasted four laps in the race. This was the second AGP for this car, its first appearance being Lobethal in 1939 where it achieved 10th place driven by the owner Dr Robert W.E.Manser of Melbourne and Lyster Jackson whose K3 had retired before the race.
The other N type at Nuriootpa was Ross K.Vinall's car from Adelaide which finished in 13th position. Does anyone know the chassis number or other owners for this one?
Apart from the three K3's whose histories are well documented there was also the MG-Vauxhall driven by Phil G.Harrison. This is P type 1427, an ex Les Murphy car which was also later owned by my father who replaced the Vauxhall engine with a correct P type engine and radiator surround in the 1960's before selling to the current owner.
Peter Vennermark from Melbourne is listed in "The official 50-race history of the A'G'P' " as having entered a P type for the race but I wonder if that should have been his Q type?
