I grew up around my parent's garage in Worcestershire. I am attaching pictures of one of the interesting cars that came through there in the early to mid 1970s (with me onboard).

Can anyone identify the car? Is it a Formula 4 ? I have always been curious to know what it was.

Best,

David Woodhouse.

It looks like one of the 250cc motorcycle engined (Suzuki?) F4 cars produced by Johnny Walker Holdings, somewhere between Cirencester and Bristol, which was IIRC a second-hand industrial machinery company.

I'm not sure it's a Johnny Walker. Check the photos on the following links:

The one in David's photos looks a lot scruffier, but it may have led a hard life.

I might wager a (tiny) amount on it being a Tecno, although the twin pipes are a puzzle......

This may be a Tecno - although the body shapes are different, the suspensions look quite the same...

(This is the Tecno bought in 1966 in Italy and brought to Moscow.)

Hey David, how is rainy country nowadays?
I am pretty sure that it is a Tecno-Ducati (they had at least two different models ) with a 350cc Ducati single. My friend Howie Ursaner won one in a slot car race in 1966 but he was too young to drive it so he never picked it up!

Alexey,
I think you are right. Different body, bigger wheels and tyres, maybe different engine, but it does look the same suspension.
Really interesting little car.
David.

Hi P,
Its been a long hard winter here in the UK. Michelle has suffered! We cant wait for spring! Both missing the CA sunshine and warmth.
These Tecno's are really cool. That little company made so many cool racing machines.
Its funny, even at the age I was in those pictures, I knew there was something extra cool about these funny racing machines.....
Take care P. Sad I missed you on my trip back in Jan.
D.

I think it looks more like a Vixen F4 car.

Front suspension doesn't look the same as the pics on this site http://www.imps4ever...ials/vixen.html
