John (Jack) Henry Turner
April 01st 1916 - March 07th 2011

Dear All,

The Turner Register is sad to inform all of the passing this morning of Jack Turner.

Jack had been unwell for some time and his passing comes just short of what would have been his 95th Birthday.

A summary article on Jack Turners life and achievements in Motor Sport and Car building were published in an article by Mike Lawrence in Motorsport Magazine July 1985

Motorsport Magazine July 1985

A very sad day for all connected with the club and the Turner register.

Jack's legacy will live on through his cars for many years to come.

Jack's 1954 built 4 cylinder 500cc engine fitted in a Kieft
(built in an attempt to break the dominance of the Norton double knockers) - a great engineer, who will be sadly missed

Since Jack Turner made some Lea-Francis based cars and his engine work included developing a Lea-Francis based Formula 2 engine we, in the Lea-Francis Owners' Club, join in expressing our sadness at this news.

Today's Times has a full-page obituary of Jack, with an image of singer Petula Clark posing with an early two-seater.

Yes and its very good. Why do I find it so depressing that the likes of Motor Sport will not do nearly such a good job?
