Considering the number of buttons on steering wheels nowadays, so even more now with adjustable rear wings, it's nice to see an old fashioned wheel from the past, in this case John Watson's old Mclaren.

There is one switch on there though, anyone know what it does?

Takes him back to the future - Alternatively it might turn everything off, including the time-aligned flux generator...

That it has a collar made me think it was an ignition and/or kill switch, but it looks like that is on the upper left of the panel.

Did they have radios in that particular year?

McClaren were one of the last teams to introduce pit to car radios, they first used them on the MP4/3 during the 1987 season.

Notice it is a switch, not a button. I do feel it is the ign switch. I think the switch with the red surround will probably be the fire bomb.
That looks like a racecar, not the video game that 'modern' ones are now. It has instruments too. I like the tach, it effectivly starts at 4000 rpm.

Wouldn't that be the flux capacitor?

You have to generate the flux and convert it to DC before you can hold it in the capacitor....

Thundersport..........Is correct it a Normally ON killswitch flick it up and every thing grinds to a hault. A sticking throttle cable is NOT a good feel when you doing F1 speeds of those days.

Reminds me of my 1912 Clement Bayard which had the busiest dashboard I ever experienced... That brass job is indeed the magneto kill switch!
