Guys, i think you need to be more patient. From what I can see the scale of work to be done will be both costly and time consuming. I have not been to Donington for a few years and spend most of my motor sport watching time at Santa Pod these days. There they have gradually improved spectator facilities over the last 10 years, but it is always a slow process as you have to generate sufficient funding to allow the work to take place. Facilities like toilets are essential. I have never forgotten going down to Pembrey for a BTCC meeting and only finding 1 toilet block on the whole site and had a similar experience at Spa.

I am sure there will be more open for the Suprbikes and this will be the trend as the season progresses. the key point is that they have to generate funding to be able to justify spending money on the facilities.

There won't be more open because none exist. They will need to do a Goodwood and bring in portaloos.
There is a real danger that they will shoot themselves in the foot at Donington because if the facilities are not in place for Duncan Wiltshire's Historic Festival at May Bank, the punters won't come back again. Forget about us TNFers etc, it's Joe Public who matters in the long run. It was worrying that there were no phones in place for the HSCC on Sunday (neither were they warned of the deficiency), and the hoard of Ferraris, Lambos etc that assembled in the paddock did so free gratis & without the knowledge of the HSCC who had paid for the paddock. Also Donington didn't know that they weren't selling tickets for Sunday on their website until I told them. It is all a bit worrying. :well:

Mr Dixon- a well known suspect.

Giraffe, if you want to put Dikko in touch with me he can have a full-size file of this "portrait".

Edit: without the offending number-plate and watermark, of course!

Well Dan, if you saw the "Midlands Today" feature on him outside court with his Overfinch Range Rover, quite well by all accounts. Apart from his serial speeding offences, I've heard a rumour that that there is (allegedly) something looming over him in relation to motor 'exports' to the Russian Republics.......................

Period B8 racer & Le Mans winner 1972 (2-litres) Barrie Smith has asked me about the history of this car; does anyone know it's heritage?

 With one eye open - if the guy has any sense!! With regards to facilities, I really do hope that the essentials are in place for the near future and then further toilet facilities (like the brick built ones that are dotted around the site) need building soon.

Easy! If you refer to the "Inside Out" programme of a few weeks ago, his current main business interest was described as "property development".

He is probably from the " No sentiment in business " school of thought

For what it is worth I have always thought that particular saying was absolute b*****ks

Like that Phil!! SG was just on an ego trip at a lot of other peoples` expense.. he didn`t give a damn and walked away from the mess he`d created. A certain Mr Ecclestone must squirm when he even thinks he let SG get a whiff of the idea that Donington could hold a GP. I am just happy that we are where we are thanks to dedicated folk who go out to enjoy motorsport rather than make loads of dosh from it.
Thinking about it though, BCE probably doesn`t worry about it too much, although if Tom had still been around and on top of the game he would more than likely given Bernie a hard time over what`s happened. We have to remember that Kevin had no control over what happened whilst the receivers had the keys and those few short weeks between Tom passing away and Kevin getting the keys back, all Donington got was bad publicity and the land condition worsened through the worst winter for ages!!!
Maybe, later this year when the Bonfire Extravaganza is held, the fire should be topped off with an effigy of SG!!! If the rumour that SG is involved with something Russian, we (hopefully) have heard the last of him.

I agree Phil, and I've punched a couple of guys on the nose who swore by that particular mantra in my time (not in the UK, I hasten to add!). When I think about it Gillett has a face you'd never get tired of punching, but I'm not expecting him to be at Mallory in the morning, sadly...............

Thankyou Alan, wasn't wearing me gigs on Sunday! Still doesn't explain Martin Halliday's 23/1 (with no S)

Interesting that the reg. no. of the red 23 is LMU 4 - This was the original reg. of Mike Lawson's Lotus Mk3 trials car

Here is the car in 2006 when Simon Leighton had it after Ian Jones had re-built it when it came back from Gary Dunkerly in South Africa.

If you have pics of it I'll send Nick to you Ted!
