For those who are licence holders of one sort of another the MSA have replaced Motor Sport Now! with a "quality" magazine just called MSA. They are actually paying people to write articles including at least one TNF member!
It's very nice but I am not sure what the point of it is. There is very little that is actually MSA news, fortunately they have kept the reports of tribunals where you can read about the fisticuffs in karting!
What the general opinion?

Personaly I'd sooner pay 50% less for my modest speed licence than receive a glossy magazine promoting what the MSA are doing for their 'stakeholders'.

As the holder of an official's "licence" I have long wondered what we were supposed to find "Motor Sport Now" helped us with. There have been many articles on how to get sponsorship, which has no relevance to the sort of club motorsport that I have been active in for 54-odd years. In the same way that students have reworked "cogito, ergo sum" into "I think, therefore I deserve a grant" we appear to have a motor sport culture of "I drive therefore I'm entitled to sponsorship"
They also spam me with a linked thing called "MSA News" which also seems to have a lot about go-carts in it and some things that are so jargon-ridden it is hard to know if they are relevant.
Oh, and they refer to me in their lists as a "Timekeeper-Handicapper" probably because they have no idea what that might be, as nobody on the RAC-MSA staff is allowed to be a practising motor-sportsperson. I have never been an RAC Timekeeper
Sorry about the rant.

Today this new magazine arrived and, as I feared, there is not much in it for me and plenty to grumble at.
e.g. there is a piece on the history of the D-type Jaguar and the captions make the classic blunder of naming both drivers when referring to something specific to the photo where (of course) one is driving. ("Ron Flockhart and Ivor Bueb lead at Le Mans 24 Hours in 1957")

BARC is the same .Loads of glossy pages which are fine if you "just want a read" but for the club racers and in particular the "lowly" FF1600/2000 brigade ,we might just as well not exist .
