I employ the oft used method of self - accreditation Matthew! Often the main paddock access is shut and you have to go to the main entrance by the Collection. If so, just tell the bloke you are going to the test day & drive round past the exhibition hall.

Pete, are you referring to Barcelona or the practice for Duncan Wiltshire's meeting? Duncan qualifies prima facie & there are plenty of them on the list for Barca.

I was answering the original question, actually.
With the Masters in Barcelona so close, exactly who is going to Donington tomorrow?

Because of the uncertainty, I am now uncertain as well. Who knew uncertainty could be contagious? I'm not sure I did.
IIRC Simon Hadfield told me that his team were heading for Barcelona after the general test at Donington last Thursday, & he is a good barometer for what the other teams will be doing. I will ask Brian at Simon's place what's going on. Can't find any info on the Festival's website or 'elsewhere' as yet.

Four doses of Group C would be fun, but possibly a bit too much fun if it rains. I'm planning on going but am keeping a weather eye out too.

Good to meet up with Giraffe and Ian Shelbourne and I was especially delighted to be able to meet Jackie Oliver who was out testing a BMW. More pics later - and no doubt better ones by the resident TNFrs - but a lovely way to spend a morning. The ex-Rpy Pierpoint Rover 3500 was a personal highlight but it did seem a little incontinent in the oil department. Twice! Hopefully on the way to being sorted.
I don't know the provenance of this car but, no doubt, others do! In the background, Messrs. Giraffe and Shelbourne look on.
And, there was this superb IMSA XJR16 too.

That grandstand has appeared since March 20th. There is also one where the old one used to be on the start-finish straight which was partially fenced off. Foolishly I ventured onto it, leaving fairly quickly as it was wavering in the breeze!

It may be the difference in cameras and processing, but I think the colour of the current version looks a little wrong. IIRC the original colour scheme was chosen because of the difficulty of creating the pigments for those colours and was produced by sponsor ICI. Still a great looking car though

Pau 1978 - I was there cheering on Derek and his team mate for the weekend, Patrick Tambay. Laffite, seen here behind Derek in the early stages, got past to join in a tremendous battle for second with Cheever and Giacomelli, with Jacques taking to the pavement on occasion trying to get up the inside of Eddie into the top hairpin. Tambay was robbed of a dominant win when his engine ran out of oil and went bang with a lap to go. Derek had trouble with locking brakes and crashed out in the late stages, otherwise he would have got second. He followed this race up with two wins on the trot. I have very fond memories of Pau, and not just for the motor racing."This is my favorite ever F2 car - so glad to see it still running....."

That B42 is truly a beauty, but not DD's original car I think. If its -16, its ex Briggs/Warren Booth etc. The 3 ICI cars that year, 1978, were -02,-08,-09 OTOH. Sorry to nit-pick!
Important info, thanks Dan!

I , at first, thought it might be the OMP Ghibli ( which is non- SNELL, only BS approved) - but it is different in details.
Any idea, anyone ?
I am looking for a period style, FIA or SNELL open face, all the current Bell etc. do look rather modern in comparison.

Pondering it today, I was suckered into thinking the B42 was an original ex-Daly car because I couldn't believe that anyone would go to such lengths to re-create such a detailed & iconic livery on a car that never wore such colours in period. Then I thought of the Lotus 69 currently competing in GLTL colours....... I suppose it's good to see a representation of these liveries that remind us of those famous cars. However, I most certainly wouldn't do that if the car belonged to me. Each to their own, I suppose.
(It might explain why the owner of the Chevron has not responded so far to my detailed and illustrated e-mail to him....... )
Thanks again Dan, it's good to have a Chevron guru such as yourself around at times like this. I am aware of your related activities elsewhere on the web
