Richie Jenkins emailed me this picture, which he in turn received from Jeremy Lefever. Jeremy is the son of Leslie Lefevre/Lefever and is hoping to identify all four people in the photo. The easy one for him was the chap on the left in the dark suit - it's his father! On the right we of course have Stirling Crauford Moss and second from left is Clemente Biondetti. But who's the tall chap in the sports jacket?

Rejected suggestions so far are Leslie Johnson, Bill Lyons and Lofty England. Based on his height I wonder if it might be Leslie Marr, but the only picture I could find of him (in "To Draw a Long Line") is rather indistinct and he's wearing a helmet - our mystery man seems to be somewhat follically challenged!

The car which can just been seen to the right is very likely Leslie Johnson's famous XK120 JWK651: Leslie Lefevre was a friend of both SCM and Johnson and Jeremy believes this picture has something to do with that car.

Facially he resembles the famous cricketer Sir Len Hutton.

Thanks Richard for posting this on my behalf.

Jeremy has suggested Ian Appleyard?

Jeremy isn't sure of the year, but looking at Moss' hair (if I'm right, it started to recede noticeably by the mid 50's) and the very fact poor Biondetti is in the picture would make it c.1951/1952?

Are you sure it is an Xk120? I've never seen a 120 with those bumpers

Not sure why Leslie Johnson was rejected as a candidate but i have only seen a pic of him with a racing cap on.

Definitely not a very Jaguar like rear end, did XK 120's have bumper bars back in the day ?

I only seem to recall having seen them with much larger over riders and the tail lights set higher than the top of them.

The car is immaterial. The real question is who's the bald bloke?

the car is the rear of an early MK7 jaguar so say 1951/2 the bumper changed on what was called the 7M

Is JWK 651 seen here in 1952 known to have changed colour ?

Not necessarily overweight - he looks quite narrow-hipped, and the hanky in the pocket was a trade mark - what about the waistcoat?
Look at the photo of Eason Gibson, his son, Serafini & Lurani in "Jenks - A passion for motor sport"

Is it really Moss Senior on the left? In an August 1950 Silverstone photo ("In the Track of Speed") his hair looks almost white. This one must be around same year.

No, as stated earlier, the man on the left is Mr Lefevre Sr

The only pic I can find of John Eason Gibson is this caricature, John Medley seems to have got it right, and as Terry says MK7 also seems correct.

Pretty sure it is JE-G, why don't you ask Neil at the MSA?

Didn't he follow his father's footsteps to the Great Admin Office in the Sky?
