Back in the day, I ran Chris in several cars, the Escort, Pantera and Rondel. Her's a few photos scanned from 1973.

Working on the Escort, Mondello I think

The MAR10 yellow Pantera loaded behind our VW van, Chris's white street Pantersa, reg 175 MPH to the side.

Had to patch the Pantera occassionally.

Nothing but a party! Chris was a gracious tea-total host and we had a great time at dinner.

The Escort in the following at various venues, I cannot remember when/which!!

Great pictures.

I remember towing my Mini back from Snetterton with a Maxi in the mid 70s back down the A11 after the meeting and Chris swept past in a gold Rolls Royce Corniche convertible CM 1 with a golden haired young female companion by his side in the early evening sunshine, and thought I must be doing something wrong.

That is likely her next to me in the wounded Pantera picture. Also talking with Chris to my left in the b&w shot. She ran the office at Titan Properties in Leeds. In my day the Corniche was a burgundy convertible, I have some pics of that. I remember it turning up at Rufforth, top down and loaded with a bevy of beauties, the onlookers assumed one to be the Princess, LOL.

From the 2006 "Chris Meek" thread

Not meaning to be self-indulgent with my poor teenage photographic efforts, but if we're going to concentrate the Chris Meek stories here, those pictures would fit better here than in the "Valli" thread .....and hopefully attract other (and better) photos.

Llandow, sometimes 1973

Great pics, EC. I think the last one is of a Mallory meetingy, look at the size of the crowd! CM became something of a hero of mine, maybe after that race, when I saw him there in about 73. His cars were always beautifully presented, a credit to you I guess!

Thanks! I got some credit on the You Tube film from the Zandvoort Aurora race too!

Always great crowds everywhere those days. We usually avoided the races where Big Gerry ran, he and Chris had a friendly rivalry for sure. Later Nick Whiting gave us some runs for our money, but Chris had a bigger BDD engine.

I remember Chris well, and have a lovely picture of us both in LONGRIDGE Paddock, in it you can see Chris's Rolls Royce in the background. I remember seeing this beautiful car with the back seat full of spare wheels and tyres!! The other lovely thing about the photograph is that it shows the late Chris Roberts, who raced an Imp I seem to recall, and the sad thing is everyone remembers David Prophet being killed in that helicopter crash at Silverstone, but Chris and his girlfriend Sue were also killed in it, and they're forgotten.
