Don't worry AlexS,
It's matter of font they use. Have you noticed that your topic is actually "It is Magalh?es not Magalhaes".
We Finns can even forgive people not writing umlauts for Häkkinen, Räikkönen, Mäkinen, Grönholm etc, so should you.

Your fault for sticking things on letters. How come we can do without accents quite happily in English yet everyone else puts wobbly lines above or below letters to make them do a job that could easily be done by another letter?

You can reduce the bit size by opting for a certain character instead of putting two or three of them to sound exactly the same.
French must look into that!

Look at the bright side, AlexS. At least they don't call him Magellan.
