Does anyone have, or know of a stock photo of offline tire "marbles" — a "field of clag" so to speak?

It would be used to help a young driver in sponsor proposals and related materials. No budget exists yet, but we realize the value of the right image.

Please PM me if you can help.

Thanks in Advance.

I understand from Brundle last weekend that the ''marbles' amount to about half a ton of rubber after a Grand Prix. I fail to see how any sponsor could want to endorse an activity whose conspicuous waste is now added to by this eco disaster.

A track-only image of tire marks would also be appropriate.

For heaven's sake! there's no need to be so coy about what your cunning plan is. We're on your side and nobody here will steal your idea.

So let's play "Guess the sales pitch?"

My guess: he is seeking sponsorship from a company that make street sweeping vehicle.

Thanks, Tony, though I sure wish it weren't so.... Some have little regard to copyright unfortunately, but it happens.

It would be a disservice to any client to broadcast my intentions, save for the content provider come licensing time.

Proprietary creation is part of business, and best held closely.

Fair enough. I just rather liked the idea of being sponsored by a roadsweeper company.

Good luck, I hope your young racer gets the sponsorship he needs.

Your idea isn't what I'm developing, but was a rather good one!

This kid is fast, stable, level-headed, immediately likable, not the least bit cocky, focused, a regular "boy next door," good penmanship ( ), everything.

If I can make anything happen for him, I'll follow up here.

Thanks for the nice wishes.

Hard to understand when some circuits are paying £40m just to stage a GP why they cannot have 6 of these, each set off at 2 places on the track in tandem ( like combined harvesters )and brush and vacumn the track in between each session.Could be done inside 15 mins, No doubt the rubber collected also has a scrap/recycling value.

I'm sure these tyres that wear out so quickly are great for "the show" (or whatever Formula 1 is called/supposed to be nowadays) but I struggle to see how this can be beneficial from Pirelli's marketing point of view. I wouldn't rush out to buy tyres that only seem to last about 50 miles.

It's to provide advertising more than anything. Unless you're in a tire war you don't really benefit from the "wow these tires are fast/durable/whatever". When you're the sole supplier you leverage the benefits of sponsoring the whole series. Though when you're a sole supplier you also get all the grief if the tires have problems. Ie Goodyear in NASCAR.

And Pirelli made it a point to make an 'exciting' tire rathern than a performance one, and I think most people are aware of that fact. So it's not "oh, those Pirellis are terrible". If anything you can make the argument that Bridgestone F1 = boring but Pirelli F1 = fun.

Well I didn't say that Pirellis are terrible, but lets be honest the majority of casual viewers who watch F1 are not particularly interested in tyres, and probably go and make a cup of tea when the commentary team starts talking at length about them. I don't think that type of viewer would find tyres, no matter how long they last, "exciting".

I hate all this artifical cr@p any way.

Well now, wait a minute here... There's an old saying "One man's trash is another's treasure". A waste management company might be interested. Or a road paving concern might want to use this stuff. I'm not saying that the uses are endless, but it doesn't necessarily mean that it all ends up in a landfill.

20 minutes ago you didn't think there was any benefit to high degradation tires, now you don't think tires that last are good for the company either?

Yup. Paying the price for saying that Mclaren wouldn't win a race in 04.

There's a thread here about it: http://forums.autosp...showtopic=72483
