I can't remember if this has been discussed before but does anyone have any info about the race at Lime Rock in 1962 (or was it 61?) for the introduction of the Austin 850 (Mini) into the USA.
There is a video on youtube about it
It seems that among the drivers were Juan Fangio, Innes Ireland, Juan Bourdeu, Pedro Rodriguez and Denise McCluggage. But who else was involved?

I now know it was a big BMC publicity event called "Operation 850 Plus" that crossed the USA and Canada during 1962.
Denise McCluggage gave a run down in this Road and Track's Competition Press story. http://tinyurl.com/3s46qbs (warning link it to an FTP PDF file)

Interesting stuff, must say! Haven't heard of Fangio driving a Mini before. Anyone have the lap times for this event in different classes, or in the 1960's in general? I do know that a Formula Vee would do a 1:09 on Lime Rock back then.
