Would someone like to compile a list of all the excuses of unlucky and inexplicable reasons why Felipe hasn't performed well? This weekend, it was the suddenly bad tires in qualifying, and let's see what he comes up with for the race, after finishing a presumptive 14th... :p

Kovalainen doesn't seem that interested to move (I may be wrong), Pastor will be kept by Williams, Di Resta I think FI will keep him, Hulkenberg not for a while

I would pick Felipe ahead of those because of experience, stability and right now he is pretty solid.

Solid how? Solid slow?

Once again Massa let the team down when they most needed him. It's just not good enough.

Well he's helping Ferrari get 2nd place in the WCC which is helpful

And he hasn't retired in a while, so that's a positive. :drunk:

Once again the opportunity to out-qualify Alonso has flashed by Flippy in a second, it's really really sad..

WCC points could count for a lot right now. He has being doing better on that score recently.

I imagine that Ferrari already know whether they are going to keep him or not. If not, is there any other opportunity possible for him for 2013? Or will he just retire at the age of 32?

How nice of Ferrari to de-click the speed limiter on Massas's car after Alonso was out. They should do that more often.
Seriously, great effort from Massa, happy for him!

Massa drove really well today and has done recently. I wonder whether he's more relaxed and comfortable in the car due to a having signed a contract behind the scenes?

well, at most to finish 1 position ahead of where felipe has finished
looking at vettel's pace I doubt that was probable

Since Silverstone :

Vettel 105 pts
Raikkonen 84 pts
Alonso 83 pts
Button 82 pts
Hamilton 64 pts
Massa 58 pts
Webber 43 pts

I have seriously retracted some of my earlier mean words towards FM but please do show when and where FM raced today. He had a fast car and he delivered but he didn't overtake anyone but backmarkers.

Nice consistent pace over 53 laps, beating a Sauber car that was faster this weekend. His best race performance since the injury  He drove a stunning race at the Nürburgring a week before the accident back then.

Sauber and Mclaren weren't faster. Massa did a great job in the first stint, he stay right behind Button and when Button and Kobayashi pit, he was way faster and put some good laps to take the 2nd place.

Great racecraft today.

Just give Felipe Baby a good car and he will be there. Have to admit he got very lucky today, but nevertheless he showed he still has what it takes. If Ferrari could just produce a fast car for once, people will not believe their eyes.

Nonsense. The Ferrari has been a good car since the start of the European season. Alonso has had seven podiums in that time, Massa one (his first in two years).

He's had a good run of results, but he has to fight for the title next year at the very least to undo these pathetic three years. Do you think he'll fight for the title?

Great result by Massa again. However, as in Spa several of the frontrunners were wiped out at the first corner. 3 this time and 6 at Spa.

I'd say 75-80% of Alonso is what I'd expect. His previous years have been 57%, 46% and 35% (currently). Shorter term, how about trying to outscore Alonso from the Summer Break. He's got a 14 point lead to defend.

lolwut!?

Felipe? Honest? Every time shit happens there is someone or something else to blame - and a fat chance that Massa will accept the blame. If gets a good result - "I was awesome". If he doesn't - "the car/team/strategy/traffic/weather/etc/etc. wasn't good enough".

Sauber management is much more sensible than Ferrari. Its ridicilous to make decisions based on few races when there are 20 in a season

It just looks like they are finding excuses to NOT drop him

Give some example. At Singapore or at Suzuka, he said the car was fantastic.

Guys...here's how it is....

Filipe is a nice guy. Everybody on the team likes him. He is part of the latin family. Nobody wants to drop him in the shit. He has been a loyal servant and should have been 2008 WDC in their opinion - they blame themselves for letting him down. Fernando likes him and his first thought on the podium was for Fernando. He had a terrible accident while driving for the team and has struggled to recover but is now finally doing so. They all now regret the "Fernando is faster than you" incident including Fernando. They know that SebVet is coming in 2014, so they want to give him another year to enable him to get another decent job. They know that he will perform much better in 2013, now that he has got his Mojo back....

Now just get over it. It is not the Ferrari way to shit on your own.

If he keeps on driving like in the last 3 GP's,
I have no problem Massa will stay for another year!
Even the 2nd half of his Belgian GP he was picking up speed and places...
perhaps he has his confidence back now,
let's hope he keeps on going like this!

But it like some here say.. a season is longer then 3 GP's!

He has definitely earned a year of Sauber with his recent performances.

Absolutely no justification for him getting another year unless it is clear that it would be his last, before being replaced by Vettel or another high caliber driver. If not, then bring in Hulkenberg or some other moderately successful young driver.

Problem is, when Fernando DNFs Massa is given a normal strategy. When Fernando is there, Massa is kept out late for the stops as traffic to slow the guys so ALO can get some advantage.

I hope he leaves Ferrari for some other place.

Massa again looking better in terms of pace in Korea, hopefully he can manage a good starting spot and not have to climb the field again...
