Massa has impressed me since Monaco this year. He just hasn't had things go his way... Since Spa he looks a different driver and I hope he continue at this level in order to wrestle second place from McLaren.

Yes, in my opinion he's been much better in 2012 than 2011, particularly in the races.

Lito Cavalcanti from SporTV just confirmed what he had already said. Massa will be singed next Tuesday at Maranello.

HE doesn't even need to be that fast to be back. He was faster than Fernando today - nobody is expecting that really. He would only need to be really close, I think, and we could definitely say he's 100% back.

Congrats Massa, and Ferrari just passed McLaren, good.

Only disappointment was he didn't end up getting the Fastest Lap - excellent drive all around! They've really nailed the race setup on his car recently.

In the post-break Championship, if such a thing existed, Felipe would be sitting 2nd.

I imagine this was a pretty straight-forward conversation: you get the WDC points, I get the contract for 2013.

Great race, his form is amazing. End the season on a high and continue that next season

Don't really care about him not getting a podium because Alonso is in the championship, so yeah.

Good race today. I never left either. Massa is a nice down to earth guy. I will support him if he scores points or does not score any at all. That is what support is after all

The real mystery is why he wasn't driving like he has done in the past few races since the beginning of the season. Some people might say pressure of losing his seat regardless of how he performed, but even as Alonso centric as Ferrari appear to be I don't think they would be that cruel to Massa and only tell him half way through the season that he can retain his Ferrari seat if he performs well.

I'm not a fan of Massa at all but today was undeniably the perfect performance. He hasn't undone his poor performances of the last two years though. He has had two great drives but zero points taken out of Vettel.

His early 2010 form shows that Ferrari will not employ the number two driver policy until one of them falls out of contention. He has to be at least in contention from the beginning of next year otherwise Ferrari really should employ someone else from 2014.

It's so sad when you think of how fast he was in his early years at Ferrari and the Massa we've seen over the past 2 years has been a disappointment compared to the Massa from 06-09, remember 08 when he won the Brazilian Grand Prix and despite Hamilton winning the title he still kept his head up whilst tears fell from his eyes on the podium dedicating the win to his Brazilian fans.

That's the Massa we need to see more of and there's signs he might be back.

And without wanting to tempt the script writers, Brazil isn't too far away and Massa's in good form...

(Of course it will depend what happens with the championship)

So do I! I'd never have thought at the 2008 Brazilian GP that it would be his last victory... He wasn't the best but he was capable of fighting for championships and it has frustrated me since 2010 that he's always been discounted from contention. I started noticing drivers would say "Of course it'll be tight fighting the Red Bulls, the McLarens and Fernando" which was sad to hear.

Yeah, the odds for Massa not winning another race in his career would've been extremely high, and hopefully it will prove to be rightfully so. In my opinion he would've won a race in 2009 as well without the injury but of course it's all hypotheticals now.

Felipe Baby has come back big time! Love the smirk on Smedley's face, love how he is so comical when Lewis falters or has issues. He really supports his boy Massa and looks like only he truly believes Massa is still a pretty darn good driver. Solid drive and I hope he finishes in front of the Red Bulls in the next few races to give Alonso a lift which he clearly hasn't done so all year long. Only times he outscored Alonso was when Alonso had a DNF I believe. He really needs to keep up this form to give Ferrari any chance of beating Red Bull to the WDC. WCC will be a long shot and come next race, I expect Red Bull to clinch that title in clinical fashion!

Yeah I'm glad he has Smedley as his engineer they've been through some rough times together but you can tell Rob tries his utmost to ensure Massa performs to the best of his ability & Smedley does tend to get happier when it's Hammy being passed by Felipe ;)

There aren't many rule changes for next year, in fact the cars are more of an evolution than a revolution.

Massa has finally gotten to grips with the tyres and the car.

He just needs to improve his qualifying.

Massa is a confidence driver. He is currently very confident. If he carries that through to next year and is still with Ferrari, then I think it might be closer between him and Fernando.

Whatever he did during the August holiday cerainly sparked something. In my opinion (and I could be wrong) but I'm not sure if it is anything to do with the contract. I think he has just finally adapted to the car.

It just seems to me that the Massa of 2007/08 is back. I dunno, I just feel like something has changed and I cant put my finger on it. His body language is very different too.

I think the issue is predominantly the tyres. The big performance drop off was between '10 and '11, the Bridgestone to Pirelli changeover.

'12 had been a continuation of his Pirelli struggles but with a more difficult car initially. His pre-Europe form was pathetic. However, Felipe has scored in all but two races since Barcelona when the Ferrari was transformed but qualifying and errors (Barcelona, Canada, Hockenheim) are still the weaknesses.

Australia was awful, 2nd half of Malaysia too, but China and, particularly, Bahrain, were certainly not pathetic races for him - finishing just down the road from Alonso.
