Just a thread to pass the time until the next Grand Prix... how many F1 items do you have? I think I have quite a bit myself, but given I am on an F1 forum I suspect I don't have as many as some on here! :p I counted them up yesterday, and have:

- 32 books
- 16 VHS/DVD season reviews
- approx. 60 F1 Racing magazines
- F1 2010 PS3 game

The 32 books consist of yearbooks from 1997 through to 2008, along with a load of Schumacher books, two Senna books I think, and few general F1 books. The 16 VHS/DVD season reviews do what it says on the tin I think, season reviews from 1994 to 2010 - excluding 2002. 2002 being the season I recorded all the coverage on VHS, only to proceed to destroy years later. If only I kept them, they'd have probably been put on some torrent site by me by now. But yes, 2002 is a black mark in the DVD/VHS collection. And approximately 60 F1 Racing magazines from October 1999 to I think 2004/2005 time. I really should read some of the books fully, some of them I've started to read, but never got round to finishing....

And also finally the F1 2010 PS3 game, however I haven't played it that much, to be honest - I don't really like it. :well: Think I'll stick with Grand Prix 4 if I need the F1 fix. I think that's a lot, but I suspect there's a few here with more of a wide range of motorsport material that that. I'm not sure one what the grand total of that would be, but at a guess its in the region of £500.

Anyone care to reveal their collections to pass the time? :)

then take it to the Paddock club...
I thought this is for "RACING" discussions
I agree the term "RACING" is so diluted these days
but... taking about expensive "toys" certainly has nothing to do with "RACING"

I've got far too much so won't bother listing all the obvious things just my favourites.

- 3 full sized Schumacher replica helmets 1997, 2006 and 2010.

- Every official Schumacher cap (not team caps) since 1997.

- Every race taped on VHS from 1998 to 2006. And every race from the 2010 - 2011 (so far) season on DVD.

- In 2009 I got the most comprehensive Schumacher book there is every race is detailed in it... now its out dated!

Lots of diecasts. Every race recorded since the beginning of the 1989 season. Team jackets, team shirts, t-shirts, caps, programs, glassware, ashtrays, adverts, banners, flags, posters, paintings, prints, sculptures, stadium-seat cushions, travel bags, colognes, ear plugs, license plates, metal signs, inflatables, streamers, etc. :drunk:

Oh come on, its just a thread to pass the time, hardly crime of the century, is it?

Ah, yes - I did have Schumacher caps as well, but they've long gone - can't remember which hats though, remember the 5 x champion hat pretty clearly though. As for every race taped, you must have a lot of room to store them! And agree for the last bit, feel sorry for all the journalists publishing what they thought would be a 'full' look at his career when it, well... isn't.

Haha remember that guy who went to the last 3 GP's of 2006 to see MS race? Wonder how he feels spending that money now lol, unless he was a Ferrari fan, then it was well spent.. :)

Yup. I've bought signed copies of Damon Hill's "My Championship Year" and Perry McCarthy's "Flat Out, Flat Broke" from a local cancer charity shop

Approaching 200 motor racing and motoring-related books.
About 120 1/43 models including all but 7 of the drivers' and manufacturers' world champions plus an eclectic collection of sports, Indianapolis, saloons and rally cars.

Items of any real commercial value: none

Almost 500 motor racing books, including annuals, driver and team biographies, etc. Hundreds and hundreds of magazines.

Plus no less than 1000 DVDs, consisting of old Formula One qualifying sessions and races, reviews, rallies, documentaries...

I haven't started collecting models, because I'm afraid I wouldn't be able to stop!

It's interesting that virtually all the posts on this thread have been from people who collect items to do with modern racing. I find that strange for a "Nostalgia" forum, although all things become history in due course.

But Schumacher, Hamilton etc ???

Odd, very odd, as Fred Emney would have said. Now the members who've posted so far won't even know who he was! I agree with a recent post about getting books on Fleabay on the cheap though - it's a really good source for 99p a pop, especially if the vendor doesn't know true values. (there again, the value of something is only what someone else is prepared to pay).

I've got a lot of older (but still within my life time) items and many books/magazines.

Apart from the real things and parts for them, larger items include:

Lotus 78 windtunnel model - 1/4 scale
Lotus 88 windtunnel model - 1/4 scale
Lotus 76 twin brake pedal - for Peterson's left foot braking experiments
Lotus wheelnut - stamped to celebrate a championship victory
Lotus 49B front wheel/coffee table

10(ish) motor racing themed pinball machines

Flag signed by Johnny Herbert (& lots of other drivers) when he won the British GP
Section of wooden plank signed from Johnny's Benetton

1950s Shell enamel sign (with ENB car logo)
1960s Monaco GP posters
Early 70s Dunlop Le-Mans plaque (Porsche 908s & Ferrari 312PB)
Mid 70s Michelin enamel sign (March 741/2 cockpit)

Tyrrell & Williams pit garage signs from the Nurburgring
Porsche 956 & 911 showroom hoardings

100s (possibly 1000+) of books - spread between mine & my parent's house.

And to give some idea the magazines include:
Motor Racing complete - bound
Autosport from issue 1 until 1970s bound
Sport Auto from issue 1 until 1970s bound
Sports Car & Lotus owner - complete
Grand Prix International - complete
Motor Sport from 1939 - 1970s bound
Classic & Sportscar - complete
Thoroughbred & Classic cars - pretty complete
etc.

That's more like it! Anything to do with the Bernie-era is mickey-mouse history. Not a proper sport if it's a closed shop for mega-rich poseurs.

OK, if we're going for aged items...

Motor Sport from 1950 complete run, Autosport from 1950 intermittent, complete from 1966 to present. Slot cars from 1960 -65.

Odd copies of The Autocar and The Motor from 1904, covering the Gordon Bennett eliminating races, and few copies of Speed from the thirties.

Amongst the couple of hundred books, Tim Birkin's autobiography "Full Throttle" and Gerald Rose's "A Record of Motor Racing 1894 - 1908", neither of them first editions, sadly, but reprints from the nineteen forties.

Then there's a historic spectator, worn and in poor condition, but still extant. Oh, and I do have a recent biography of Bernie. Where's my tea?
