Are you visiting from N. Ireland? The British Columbia Historic Motor Races take place at Mission, BC, June 11-12, the weekend after Sonoma. You'd be welcome to join us!

A mid-week event? So are there other races, or is it mostly testing sessions? You are on the entry list at Sonoma with a couple of McLarens? Are you running at Laguna too?

I fly into SF on the Thursday before this event, will be at the track friday and the weekend, with McLaren as the Marque, Can Am, Trans Am and 70/80's IMSA, this is a must see event for me!! My mate John Watkins is racing his Huffaker 84 Pontiac in the IMSA group so will be hanging with him, the Trans Am boys and the McGee Motorsports lads!! 4 weeks away, lookin forward to it(except the 12 long haul)

Also, the same weekend is the Pleasanton Swap meet and Hot Rod Show, about an hour south!!

Yes, visiting from N.Ireland! Thank you for you offer, Vince, but we are planning to be in the Monterey area that week.

Will probably call past Laguna Seca as advised and the Baja Cantina in Carmel for the Hot Rod gathering

It sounds as if a TNF meeting would be in order. We are actually going to a Jowett Rally at Healdsburg, but should be going to Sonoma onSaturday because Scott Renner will be racing his Jowett Jupiter there.

You should arrange to meet "oldtransamdriver", Robert Barg. He saw Bob McLean's crash at Sebring, and met Bob's widow (and Jamie Moore's sister) Kathie McLean. Robert also raced Camaros in the Trans Am. I'm sure you guys would have a lot to talk about.

Dale.

The plan is to be there both days, Sat. and Sun. Will be hanging around the Ron Tribble pit. Ron is bringing 2 tube frame TA/IMSA cars. He is kindly providing some crew passes for our gang. I'm hoping the Historic Trans-Am group will be nearby.

Look forward to meeting you and other TNFers.

Here is an easy side trip that you may enjoy that is not far from the track.

http://www.parks.son...net/JLPark.html

We are still working on getting the ex Bonnier M6B ready for the race. Last year I broke an half shaft on the second lap. All the repairs are done and will be at the event. There is a huge Can-Am grid and on this track the small blocks have a better chance of staying with the later Big Block cars. Come by the pits and say hello.

I understand that Scott Hughes will be present with his former Commander Motor Homes McLaren M8FP which he insists on claiming is the former Revson M8F. Of course, it has been conclusively demonstrated that his car is most definitely not the Revson car. Since this is the first event that he has attended since he has been so completely exposed, I am wondering how he wil present his car. Will he readily admit that it is not what he has claimed, or will he continue to falsely claim a history for the car that has been profoundly exposed as false.

Went to the Festival but didn't find any TNF'rs other than Tony Garmey - not sure if any others showed up as the weather was dismal on the Saturday and the wknd forecast was not good. Even some competitors went home after Saturday as Sunday was supposed to be more of the same.

Despite all that there was racing on Friday and Sunday and lots of interesting cars to see in the paddock. Saw many of the old T/A cars that I used to race against in the paddock. They sure looked spiffy - way better than I remember most of them being "back in the day".

Maybe somone has some photos of the weekend?

I was there Friday ,Saturday and Sunday.
It was all pretty grim thanks to the weather-nearly an inch of rain on Saturday and Sunday was late off because of the wet track.
Plenty of cars on Friday but there were people pulling out by Saturday lunch time and the paddock looked pretty sparse. With a social event at Laguna Seca later in the week a lot of competitors loaded up and took the cars off there rather than risk bending them.
Paddock feel amongst those I talked too was not the best. The general view seemed to be the Steve Earle is trying to push a quart into a pint pot and in terms of track time per dollar it rates pretty low.
Seemed like quite a few have given the event two years but won't be back.
We'll see.

Sorry, but I chickened out whenI saw the rain coming down on Saturday morning. We didn't feel like paying $80 between us to stand out in the rain, when I have done that as a Marshall for many years without paying! On Sunday we had another commitment.

Scott Renner quite enjoyed his drives in his Jowett Jupiter, and on the wet track he felt that his narrow tires gave him a little advantage.
