Not many race meetings were held at Ouston near Chester-Le-Street but does anyone have an entry list with car numbers from a meeting held there in 1959. I am particularly interested in the Formula Libre event.

I see there is an Ouston near Chester le Street. Am I correct in taking it that it was not RAF Ouston near Stamfordham?

That's confused me. There's an Ouston near Chester le Street, but Ouston Airfield which ran races in the early 60's is about 20 odd miles further north.

I have some Ouston programmes so i will have a look. The race circuit was the track on the then RAF base at Stamfordham, now know as Albermarle Barracks.

Just north of Harlow Hill on the B6318 - Stanegate Roman road, known locally (I believe) as The Military Road. Take a look on Google Earth.

Was used for rallies at on occasions. The surface is now quite bad owing to the fact the army use it for tracked vehicle training. They have in the recent past used it for go karting, you can see the track lines on the runway.

Don't crash into the secure fenced area.
