Hello guys,

I know there are lot of differences between the Gr.A spec. and DTM spec. E30 M3 in terms of engine and other mechanical bits, but how about the bodywork? Are there any differences? Also, apart from the DTM series itself, did the DTM spec. E30 M3 ever participate in any other countries or races? The only one I know is the 91 / 92 Macau Guia race.

The DTM cars were supposed to be Gr.A until they introduced class 1 and 2 for 1993. So there shouldn't be a big difference between Gr.A and DTM specs.
Some M3s made it into rally sport but that is another story.
With the bodywork you had the usual changes from steel to carbonfibre for fenders, bonnets and spoilers but still sticking to the original look.
Racing in foreign countries: The M3 ran in pretty much every Gr.A touring car series in the world!
I know also about an Audi V8 and an Opel Omega Evo running in Belgium.
I think the only DTM car that didn't run in another country on regular basis was the Mercedes 190 Evo 2. They raced at one occasion in South Africa and in Macau.

The BTCC cars had a smaller 2 litre engine

Lets rephrase it: The M3 ran in pretty much every Gr.A touring car series in the world in the same trim as in Germany when they had no engine size limit!

AFAIK were the cars in Italy also limited to 2000ccm.

DTM was run to Gp A rules up until 1988. After that they had their own rules based on Gp A but allowing wider wheels, more modified engines, etc...by 1990 many more modifications were allowed & after that there were few similarities with Gp A.
BTCC was to Gp A rules up until the end of `90, when the 2 litre rules came in. DTM spec cars did run an Macau for a few years, Australian M3`s ran to DTM rules with a few alterations. Belguim ran their pro-car series to DTM rules in `93 as well. Italy was also using DTM rules. Also there was a DTM class for Spa 24 Hours for a few years.

Hope that help.
