This is one case where I know what the car is, just not where in the U.S. it -- and its owner -- might have gone.

Friends at the on-line magazine "Veloce Today" sent me the following note, and it's the easiest explanation:

"This car was built by Andy Schwartz in the early 2000's. At the time he was an engineer with the Ford racing group but is currently not working there. He built this car in his home workshop from his own design which appears heavily borrowed from Chevron and Lola sports racers of the 70's. It has a homebrewed FI system using Ford electronics, his own intake, exhaust and turbo setup along some production parts as needed from who knows where on a basically stock Cosworth Vega engine. We have not been able to locate Mr. Schwartz or the car. We received one note that said the car may be in Texas, we have no verification on this point. Below are some photos that he sent to me sometime in 2002."

This is clearly a very interesting and well-built sports/racer, although I'm not sure where it was intended to race. Does anyone know where the car, or Mr. Schwartz, might be, or how Mr. Schwartz might be contacted?

Thanks for any leads.

Given that this was designed by Mr. Schwartz, does that mean it can achieve ludicrous speed? ;)
