And some very interesting specials, I always like to see this kind of machines even if I have only limited knowledge. Could #12 be a Steyr V8 engine?

I believe Bayol was in a Gordini and that looks like a Maser 250F to me. Louis Rosier perhaps. Is number 3 Chiron at Monaco 1955? With Bayol in the background? Practice, obviously, they're using odd numbers. Probably the first session as I've seen pics of Chiron and Ascari with the same stencil style but with their race numbers instead, which I assume must have been a later session.

63 isn't it? This is the Filipinetti car that the unfortunate Hill drove occasionally that year. It must have made him wish for the ATS. BRM engine.15. Phil Hill Solitude GP 1964.

The Ferrari entering the Goodwood paddock is I believe Reg Parnell's ex-Bobby Baird 500 'Starlet' chassis 188 that he had re-engined with a 625 motor for 1954 and with which he enjoyed several race wins in period. However this does not look like Reg (to me) so without checking race numbers against records I would not like to stick my neck out!

Is number 10 Bobby Baird in his Ferrari at Goodwood? Easter 1953?
After I sent my post on the Ferrari I thought just this, but I was too focused on Parnell. I'm sure you are right as he raced this car with number 21 in the 1953 Lavant Cup and you can see the 1 on the nose.

No.9 is not Bacon's FHB. It looks is very Kieft like on first impression but I think it might be a Martin
No.11 is Rupert Instone's Djinn
No.12 is indeed the Steyr Allard but I wonder if it is Sidney Allard driving it as I thought it was always unpainted in his ownership.
No.14 intrigues me - clearly Frazer Nash or GN based. Could it be the Attenborough Special?
No.16 I think might be Clegg's Dorcas

Dorcas was front-wheel drive (and the name was Glegg) http://www.bsafwdc.co.uk/page94.php

Could be Chris Tooley now I come to look a bit closer, as although the crash hat and vizor are right for Sydney, I can't see the glasses.
As Geoff says Glegg not Clegg.No.16 I think might be Clegg's Dorcas
I think of Dorcas as four-wheel-drive but a quick shufti at Bolster tells me she started as front-drive. Either way she had a Beesa f.w.d. gearbox which no 16 has not got.

A bit risky disagreeing with Eric, but I don't THINK Tony Rolt ever drove an ERA at Goodood, He drove the Alfa Aiken and ERA Delage, but ERA ....??

I reckon that no 9 could be the JBS that Ray Martin modified for Les Leston, it looks like a JBS and the swing rear axle would fit. The driver looks like Jim Russell but I doubt it is him George Wicken????
The Maserati at Monaco must be Bira in 1955, alongside Castellotti.
The Maserati leaving the pits? Might it be Tulo? (Baron)
The 250F driving down the Boulevard looks unpainted, but carries a racing number, I cannot recall a Maser racing without paint, might it be the Moss car in light green??
16a Well there were so many weird and wonderful specials back in the fifities it is hard to recall them all, but from the high bonnet line it must have a very tall engine.
Well 'at's wat i finks.

Might have been, if Bira had ever driven a 250F at Monaco. I suspect whoever said André Simon is rightThe Maserati at Monaco must be Bira in 1955, alongside Castellotti

Unpainted 250F! My knowledge of continental towns is not that great, so impossible to identify the venue, Monaco, Sables d'Ollone (?), Bari, Ezy-sur-Mer, etc......
Still looks all paintless to me. Driver could be Moss.
My comment about 16 should have applied to 12a

1/ It still looks like John Brown to me, and he was a Martin driver.
2/ My first reaction was that it was Lance Mackln in the Moss Maserati.

AFAIK Aikens only built the one special before graduating to an Iota then a JBS. He remained loyal to Triumph power though.

I agree it's not the 'Leston Special', but while we all grope in the dark, I wonder if it is not an early itteration of the car? Looks somewhat like a JBS and has swing axle, but front end not Les Sp spec. If it is an early version who the heck is driving it?
Trouble is there were so many 'one-off's' and specials in the early 500 days.
It was the 500 web site that I used to check-on before I posted my 'wonderings'.
I am suprised that we have not had some pundit from that Organisation telling all.

Further to Ted Walker's identification of this vehicle as the Farley Special, driven by Chris Summers, Ted has asked me to post this photo of the car in a slightly later stage of development with some vestigial bodywork, taken at Shelsley Walsh sometime in the 'fifties. Close inspection of the rear suspension, and engine layout would appear to bear this out.And here are some more...
