Did this guy really think that KR has to prove anything ? Wilhelm Noll told me once the reason he never took part in such kind of meetings was that there were to many idiots who wanted to prove they were the real champs by 'beating' him in a parade type event....
I noticed Ago, Roberts and a few others only did selected rides. Anyone take any times, Grant was around 57's. Parrish a full minute, I timed him at Cadwell once, er looked faster on TV he was lapping the same time as a 125cc Honda from 1979 ;) The scariest thing out there were the chairs look at my video the chap doing wheelies came close to getting wiped out. I'm contemplating having a go next year I have a Ukelele just need the Shuttleworth Special............;)

Bugger.... I wish I'd have seen him and the machine in the paddock, as you know Ben dad built the original engine and run it for a while on a lathe he would have machined quite a few of the cycle parts tooThat would be right. Gary Hoyle told me he was going to be there with his Jim Lee framed Goldie.

Did anyone notice I think was a Jim Lee Goldstar, I caught a fleeting glance on track but wasn't going back to the paddock. the queue later on was enormous.

Thanks for taking the time to post these, still smarting I never got to meet Gary. With reference to the programme I found it harder to understand than Chinese algebraThis is the one joeninety was talking about. His blue number is tucked just inside the screen at the front No.256 Gary Hoyle.

Thanks Ben for the usuall accurate delve into the past.Hi Chris. I don't think it is THE Jim Lee Goldie (ie Grant's one), but it is a customer frame kit (Jim marketed them, but I don't think he made many). Mick Grant said that the rear suspension mountings were different on his Goldie.

More so, Sidonie & Freddie saw him...ps - anyone see the other Barry look-a-like wandering round the paddock?

I took this at Mallory of Sheene's son. An uncanny resemblance!

Re: 1000 Bikes on TV
Well disappointed doesn't even come close for me. How the hell do you call that the Festival of 1000 Bikes ? If the VMCC were involved with that they should be ashamed. I can't believe I am the only one that feels this way. Interesting yes, but not what was expected when I sat down to watch.

Yes Steve Parish was moving around the paddock with a camera man following him, I did see him doing a piece about the RG 500 he rode so hopefully it will be better coverage.I must say I was not best chuffed, not at all what I expected, but apparently they are working on a DVD and TV show more about 1000 bikes

Just in case you missed this or are out of the UK (Wales etc.). Documentary from Mallory Park festival of 1000 bikes featuring Kenny Roberts and a few great memories from the past especially Alex George from the other side of the fence.

KR not just talking about Jarno but the Tom Herron's of this world and comments from some of the best most straight talking blokes of recent times peppered with comments from Alex George who highlights the very backbone of racing from his early days, the very lifeblood of racing in truth, often overlooked by many but appreciated on this forum. I'm just posting that TV programme with Sheene and Hunt, love them or loathe them. I would like to add that on meeting Bazza how impressed I was on his recollection of his lap times on the 125 Suzuki. Great Man.Thanks for the vid Nice to hear KR talking about Saarinen and how influential he was on his own riding style
