We know that some of the cars in the museum are not quite what they seem, I wonder how DCD deals with that when showing folks around?

He strikes me as a honest sort of guy with a passion for the truth, but on the other hand he is an IMS employee.

Actually, my personal experience with Donald is that he knows all the 500 "people" history, but has very little knowledge or interest in the cars....... Of course, the IMS company line, when questioned about the authenticity of some of the cars, is "no comment".

No, the driver's not Parnelli Jones, it's me getting ready to go out and play PJ

Behind the car is my friend Randall Cook, and car owner Bob Dicks is behind the camera, taking the pic.

I had a great time at Milwaukee, and thanks to car owners Bob Dicks and Carl Schultz I also had a lot of track time!! I was also out on the track as a passenger in Bill Castle's Miller (with his son Terry doing the driving) and in Bill Hoff's Bentley - a big thank you to all those gentlemen, especially the intrepid ones who let me drive their babies!

All in all, it was a very enjoyable week. I met several TNFers, like Jim Dillon, David Woodhouse, ZOOOM, Tom Schultz, Steve Zautke, mac miller and probably a few more I can't think of right now (sorry!), also Sonny Meyer, Donald Davidson, Gordon White, Joe Freeman, Bill Castle, Bill Spoerle etc. etc. I got the chance to look behind the doors of Dean Butler's "Zakira's Garage" and meet its staff, including the great Jim Himmelsbach and Josh Shaw, got to see the IMS museum and its basement, the photo archive and the restoration shop, got a glimpse of the car collection of the great Chuck Davis courtesy of his son, Chuck junior, and met basically everyone with a name in the business of collecting and restoring old racing cars in the US, especially Millers.

My special thanks go out to Tom Barbour, Harold Peters and Dave Hedrick, who made it all possible for me and opened all the right doors - ¡Muchas, muchas gracias, amigos!

I just arrived home last night and had a great time at Milwaukee. It was wonderful to meet and talk to Tom Schultz, Steve Zautke, Michael (lucky Bugger), and many of the friends I've met over the years. I got to drive nothing, but checked off an item on the bucket list by riding around the mile in the Uihlein Mercer Raceabout. Also rode in the Gil Pirrung Miller 4 cylinder, the Bugatti T37A, and a Stutz M. Author Burt Levy hijacked Lou Natenshon's Ford two-man car and was giving rides to nearly everyone. Burt is pretty quick in a variety of machinery and we came close to adding to the black marks on the exit of turns 2 and 4 on several laps. Paul Simms, a Bugatti owner whom I talked into going with me to Milwaukee, actually got to drive a few laps in Mitch Rasansky's Miler 91 rear drive car and I got my photo taken at the wheel of Mitch's front drive 91. Everyone was very friendly and the Miller meet is one of the great bargains for both spectator and car entrant. I'm going to try to do it annually in hopes of getting a Miller drive.

It was a great time as usual. Great friendly people, really neet cars and even an Wisconsin bratwurst for Ferner.
Missed Szautke, he was too fast for me.
Got to meet the two wild children at the meet.... Mac Miller and Carl S. Those guys were having WAY too much fun.
Talked to Donald Davidson, got the same impression as everyone else. I think he really does have cogent thoughts and opinions, but he knows where he gets his paycheck.
If Ferner can waltz in and get a trip to the basement at the museum, I may have to change my name to something more exiotic...
Got to spend quite a bit of time with the owner of the Tommy Milton Miller restoration. Stunning, just stunning.

Once again great weather and a great meet. Yes, it was fun meeting Michael, and catching up with Woody, Tom, Mac and the others. Next year will be even bigger, looking forward to it.

Zooom, one of these days... LOL

You're a great bunch, priveledged to have met you all although my concentration was a bit diminshed at the track.

Some of the Umbrella Mike Boyle Family stopped by and chatted and took in-car photos to be distributed to La Familia.

I made a few laps in honor of my friend Bill Barringer, gravely ill back home, he'd been looking forward to running his George Barringer Spl at The Miller Meet and sharing some of his boyhood remembrances of Harry A Miller

'Everyone' turned faster laps than myself...have to find a different ilk of guest drivers next year

Ferner came in complaining of understeer...we pretended to let a bit of air out of the right front and sent him back out...

Now on to Michigan Int'l as part of the Concours; Salem, Winchester, Mt Lawn, Darlington, Santa Barbara Concours and finally Havasu City Speedway in Nov.

Best Regards
