Heres the link to the live timing dashboard which should become active on Tuesday (Mondays session is untimed) and from there you can click on the radio button and listen to the commentary once we get into racing, I think they also report live on some of the practice sessions
http://ttlive.iomtt.com/index.htm#
For anyone who is unfamiliar with the live timing, you are seeing a feed from the transponder points around the circuit as each bike passes through and a leaderboard which then emerges on corrected time.

Sidecar's went after the solo's but the session was red flagged on lap one due to an incident, the sidecars are currently being brought back to the startline behind the travelling marshals

Just read the announcement - both Bill and his passenger Kevin Morgan were killed at Ballacrye.
Condolences to both families

Yes , condolences to both families , a sad start to the TT
Yes very sad, I initially didnt realise it was the same guy I used to watch in the early 1970's I assumed it must be his son or a namesake, but at 67 he was still out there putting some respectable times in.
Lets hope its the last time we hear that sort of news this fortnight.
Roads closing now and another decent forecast for this evening, will McGuinness bang a 130 in tonight??
Edited to say, if you have problems getting on to the live timing or radio links, just keep trying, they've had a few problems this week, I think its just due to the sheer volume of people logging on worldwide, but it does work in the end.
If the radio link comes up as unavailable just keep hitting ctrl + F5 repeatedly until you get it.

Listening to Radio TT at present.
Keep advertising a TT Dongle (are they alowed to say this?)
Also 'Dominos Pizza'
Have these people never visited the 'Hope Street Chippy'
Fish, chips, black pudding, savaloi, peas, and gravy - all this on top of 7 pints of Okells and then up at 05.00 to warm up for practice.
We were professionals (professional what I hate to speculate )
Hanks still going, also Eddie Kiff.
Names that Noah knew.
Klaffi at 20.07.49

Then during the sidecar session which ran first, oil was dropped from Kirk Michael right through to Ballaugh, so they had no option but to call off the solo session as a big clean up was required and time was already against them, I spoke to one of travelling marshals up in the paddock and he said it was a major slick and would have taken a good hour or so to deal with.
Oh well hopefully a full session on the cards for tomorrow night.

Bearing in mind i'm in a 30mph limit here on Glencrutchery Rd, someone just came past here on a road bike at what sounded like around 80 - 90mph!!
There does seem to have been a few more RTA's this year than aversge, trying to get to work in the latter part of last week was a nightmare when travelling on the course roads, they really are organ donors some of these guys!!

I think the camera work is superb, especially some of the more unusual angles and the hi-def cam work. The sight of the contortions the bike has to go through is awesome.
For me, it's difficult to make a good TT programme as there is no real "racing". You race the circuit, not each other, so there are no "dices for third spot" etc as you'd get in a "normal" race. It must be hard to make a time trial, no matter how exciting the scenery, exciting TV. Not knocking the event, that's just how it is. Especially now they go in singles, not pairs.
That said, they've done a pretty decent job, again.
Here's to the rest of a safe week for all.

Road based 'racers' but can't deal with a bit of rain.
Comeon.
As they are road bikes I don't think the roads should even be closed for the races.
Lets see how the modern road bike deals with the Manx 'Wobblers'

Like they used to in pratice, close the gate on the mountain to keep the sheep in ? As for Hutchy's vocal delivery he reminds me so much of another local rider (to me) in 60's ace Peter Middleton I believe ITV should be congratulated, it must be a logistical challenge to produce edit and present in such a slick way.
The "Tourist Trophy" was originaly staged to develop and publicise the Motorcycle from a maufactures standpoint, so what's new. As it gone full circle, I think not, changing valves en-route and taking a notch or two out of the belt drive are long gone, the TT is just a way of showing your wares to Joe public and most likely wont influence the boys in Japan, maybe fort Dunlop may learn a little.
As anyone seen the documentary on the TT featuring, amongst others Joey and the fishing boat sinking ? Great stuff, could put it up on youtube if of interest.

I was walking through the paddock yesterday and overheard Whitham saying to one of his crew, nar thats no good, in the first shot he's going over Ballaugh and then it cuts to him approaching Ballaugh, that'll need changing its obviously a nightmare given the time the guys have to edit all the coverage especially if they dont know the circuit

'The Motorbike Story' is on the same channel and has some good bits although the presenter seems to spend far too much time larking about for me. It makes 'Top Gear' look almost serious in comparison.

There is a difference between being there & watching ITV4 coverage, but both have positives. The logistics for TV are difficult, but I've lost count of the number of friends I've introduced to the TT & the North West through the TV coverage. Each one of them in awe & hopefully passing on the message about two unique events.I first came across the ITV4 coverage last year - they also do well with the Tour de France event - so watch it each evening in awe. The programme is quite brilliant and even better than being there. I've been to two TTs but could never muster much interest in that style of racing whilst my mate (18 visits) would be happy to sit there plugged into Manx Radio following the progress of the races.
Similarly a Scottish friend meeting up with a US business contact in Ireland, deviated by the Island for practice rather than going straight on to Scotland. He took him to the bottom of Bray Hill to watch. I just wish I'd been there to see his face as he'd never heard of the TT.

I had the Ballagarey webcam on a seperate screen yesterday, found it quite handy, I was signalling for a couple of the lads so it was another way of checking progress between the start and Glen Helen in addition to the live timing screen.
I dont know if anyone else noticed but On the last lap someone appeared briefly in front of the webcam and did a mooney

That was a scary one with Dan Kneen!! How on earth did he stay on?? I think the camera man jumped out of the way, which would explain why we didn't see all of it.
I assume Dan Kneen is the son of either Kenny or Norman Kneen who raced in the seventies, and used to live in Onchan?

Fearless young Dan was flying all week, he was in amongst the 'names' most of the time, I hadnt seen the footage from Rhencullen until a few hours ago but had heard about it!!
Ray, talking of the Kneen's, Norman is one of the travelling marshals nowadays, Kenny is still seen around the paddock, as is Phil who recently had a surprise 60th which I forgot all about and missed

Small world! The Kneens lived in the same road as us back in Onchan in seventies! We met up with Kenny and Norman in the paddock at the 78 Manx when Dennis was racing the Aermacchi. Hope they are all well. Very impressed with Dan's riding - it was amazing to save that situation too.
All the best.

Somewhat surprisingly, Roy Moore at Ramsey shut up for once and let us hear them all again, then a good set of post-lap interviews from the paddock rounded it off. Manx Radio were threatening to put the parade up subsequently as a podcast, if so it'd be worth a listen ! Luigi Taveri's Honda 250 four, Ago on the MV 500/3, David Hailwood on a 500 Honda four that he subsequently fired up the road at May Hill, Charlie Williams' Maxton TZ385, Mick Grant and Brian Reid on RG500s, Gary Dunlop on one of Joey's Hondas, Nick Jefferies on one of David's bikes, Peter Duke on a 350 Manx from the NatMotMus etc, wonderful !
