Does anyone have any pics or stories about the Sidchrome Mustang that Jim Richards drove.

Especially interested in the races at Baskerville Tassie Vs Moffat's Mustang?

Were there any other races in Australia?

Does anyone know the cars overall race record?(ie Moffats mustang won 101 races out of 151/157(which is it????))

Thanks

Yes, Jim made his name for himself here with the Mustang before building the Falcon...

That's the Falcon with the drooping snoot.

I was just finishing my apprenticeship working at M.R.Hornibrooks in Madaline St in Enfield Sydney and Sidchrome had a small factory on Belfield Rd along side the Shell service station and one day there was Jim and the Mustang out the front so as a good noise boy like myself i parked the car and walked over and introduced myself to him and told him i had seen him in NZ the year before. We got on well and i went out to Oran Park to held him at his first meeting at the track,My memory tell me that he won that day but its getting harder to remember those years.I saw him and the family loads of times off and on and he is still a very lovely man both in and out of the car.

We've got a swag of shots featuring Jim in the Mustang at various circuits (incl Baskerville 10,000 1975 + '76) on the oldracephotos website (too many to post here). If you type Jim Richards into the Advanced Search it will bring them all up.

Here's a few shots from 3 Baskerville 10,000 meetings. The wide shot with hardly any spectators was shot in free practice on Friday 1975 and was the first time Jim had driven on the track - you didn't need a stopwatch to tell he was bloody quick though - he was in the groove after only a handful
of laps. The rest is history of course - I had seen a shot of him in an Escort T/c in SCW maybe 1970 in NZ but nobody really knew what to expect at Baskerville that weekend.
