I've just had it confirmed that Spa has indeed been re-signed until 2015 from an excellent source. He is one of the campsite owners at Spa.

Very good news indeed :D

I guess this rotation is now off the table - and frankly I don't see a French Grand Prix happening anyway.

"At the same time the French government has effectively dumped all ideas of a Grand Prix, saying that no government subsidies will be available. This is not a surprise and so if there is to be a French GP it will have to be done with private and local government money. The two proposed races both required a state guaranteed for their dossiers and without that there is no chance of a race.

Paul Ricard and Magny-Cours must now decide whether they want to go ahead with the guarantees. The decisions will be needed before the World Council meeting tomorrow."

That's it then for the French GP.

That may be. But who gives a damn as long as it means that Spa is saved?

Those of us who recognise the history of the French Grand Prix. Very happy Spa is saved, but saddened in equal measure that CVC and Bernie have pushed F1 out of the spending reach of its heartlands.

Indeed. Its ridiculous that France doesn't have a GP. Pretty much sums up what is wrong with modern F1.

Like Joe said last week, it's ridiculous that the Magny-Cours and Paul Ricard bids were competing, they should instead of combined and maybe could at least find the funds to share the race or something.
