I think it was late decision given the fact that the winner and second place cars would be crossing the line at full speed. A rare occurrence.

Indeed Barry.......there was actually concern on Radio Le Mans that not all the flag marshals would pick up the message and they would come out onto the track on the last lap waving their flags
