Vettel 'unlucky' to make his mistake in the final lap. He could have easily won it if he had not been in cruise mode after pulling the 3s gap on Schumacher. If he had gone 1s a lap faster (which was easily possible without too much risk as he went over 2.5s faster when Button was on his tail), it would have been a comfortable win. Also unlucky with all the safety cars.. Pulling out gaps to control the race and see them being deminished a few laps later by a stupid fault of an other driver, again and again...
Button lucky that all his mistakes were cancelled out by the SC.

Shame for Schumacher.

Good for Webber

Force India drivers were both useless today.

Button should have been penalised for hitting Alonso. Too late now.

Amazing GP. Hoping Button doesn't get a penalty. What a drive from the back. Well done to him. Well done Red Bull on one of their supposed weaker tracks. Fantastic drive from Schumi. Podium would (could) have been a nice reward. Great quiet drive from Petrov ahead of Massa and Kobayashi, who deserved a better result. Finally a great race by Alguersuari to get some points and his best F1 finish, ahead of Rubens (good 9th again) and Buemi (picking up some more points). Well done Hispania, best of the newer teams, and a valuable 13th and 14th finish in the battle for the wooden spoon. Only down points were race control, Force India, rain delays and DRS. Back to reality in Valencia in 2 weeks.

Good for webber?

I don't think so. His mistake cost him either victory or second place behind Vettel

Where the hell did Button come from. Surely pissing about various incidents is what this forum is best at, but how in the hell can anyone recover 21 positions in what, 25 laps or so even if you add the half-dozen who fell over themselves.

Credit where credit is due, Schumi was the only driver not to make any serious errors that I saw during the race. Koba was up there until a little slide and Massa can't take a trick.

Button overtook more drivers today than Vettel in his entire F1 career

I wouldn't call it "cracked". Button was in the faster car and with the DRS, Vettel wouldn't have stood a chance to win anyway - so he tried everything to get the gap back to 1s, overdrove the car, got onto the wet part of the track and that was it.

Your 100% right. Button would have had him anyway, so Vettel did the only right thing. Sadly the Vettel basher will keep it up, even after such a great race.

Button will finish probably 4th when it is all said and done.

He definitely deserves to be penalized. Bullying his way to the front.

I like it how people say vettel is undeserving but when button wins a GP where he ended the race of 2 drivers, made 6 stops and got lucky by 223432432432 gazillion safety car phases... it's well deserved

My gut feeling is that Alonso and Hamilton won't make too much fuss about it, because at the end of the day, Button prevented Vettel getting the full point. If they complain then that just make the points gap bigger.

It is not a shame, unless you would call most penalties this days shame.
For coherence Button should be penalized.

IMO he wasn't the main culprit in the Hamilton incident and with Alonso it was a racing incident. So no, I don't think Button should be penalized for either of those two.

Pity that Koba lost out after being in 2nd place at one stage.

That save of his at the wall of champions during quali was awe inspiring

No he was very lucky indeed with the safety cars, which allowed him to pit twice with little to no penatly at all

Won't happen. The Alonso incident was a racing incident they were neck and neck on turn in and Alonso closed off the radius, no penalty will be given!

Fantastic, utterly. One of the best endings to a Grand Prix since Brazil 08. Always spectacular to see a driver fight their way back up, but to win from 21st Button pulled off a brilliant victory today!! :D

Safety car was out for far too long today, which needs to be looked at.

Unfair Race if Button wins this without Penalty.

To top of it Today we even had Safety Car until Intermediates...

Button was all emotional at the press conference. Must understandable though. This was his strongest victory ever. For the first time, he won by fighting. Big ups to him.

Yeah, Im happy for Jensen. Yes he took out Alonso, but that was a normal racing incident. Could have happened to anyone.

Lets hope that this race won`t get tainted by giving Jenson a 10s penalty.

Holy Cow, how on earth did Button won that race?!

I really hope that Vettels luck is vanished, he was doing so great so far, but also had a bit luck (Monaco) - or the championship is over.

Wonder why they didn't finish the Button-Hamilton fuss during the red flag period. Plenty of time.

My thoughts as well + politically the FIA will not like to penalise race winners.

Epic race, but the DRS was just too much. No thanks to double DRS zones, and shorten the one used as well!

So essentially he made a mistake ... in loose terms that is the definition of cracking under pressure isn't it ?

That's certainly one way to look at it, but as i said, he didn't have much to lose at that point, so he was taking more risks than usual, just to keep his tiny chance to win the race alive. For me, that's not the same like for example Hamilton's race in Interlagos 2007 or 2008. I think it's a bit strange to see people laughing at Vettel "choking"/"cracking"/whatever, when that was actually his first major mistake in a race situation this year and he didn't lose anything in the end.

it as a racing incident but are the FIA going to be consistent, if they are consistent button should get a penalty.

this year almost every contact has been given a penalty.

I know people have their favourites, but Button did nothing today that was calculated, pre-meditated or "dirty" - I wonder if the DRS effect was compounded by the greasy conditions, atmospheric pressures, etc.? Definitely was a farce that the DRS cars blew past like they did.

Wow I just noticed - HRT in front of Virgins and Trulli's Lotus, with Liuzzi in 13th and Karthikayen in 14th. How did that happen?

If Lotus and Virgin won't improve, and if there'll be no more wet races, they just might finish 10th :) Or did Lotus had a better or similiar result in previous races?

Good job Jenson
Posted Image

The Stewards are gonna have a busy night, but i bet they don't dare to alter the result. They need to take into account that it's a wet race, and things happens.
Jenson said himself that he couldn't see anything in his mirrors.

i think Jenson was at fault in both cases , with Lewis and Fernando . but scrapping him from victory after sucha finish would be ridiculus.

I am in for next race 5 places gird drop at start of race , but giving him a time , no way .

one is sure , Vettel under pressure suck..

race .. 11/10 holy moly , turly epic one

This ridiculous trend of leaving penalties until after the race has to stop. Now we can't even be sure we know who the winner either. And what if Vettel crashed instead of half-spun, not even being sure he was actually racing for the lead? Piss poor stewarding, as usual, regardless of how they rule on the incidents with Hamilton and Alonso.
