Hi all

I am looking for some information relating to a car i recently bought. It is an Austin Healey Sprite which used to be owned by Starley garage in Brighton. The ownner raced it back in 65 & 66 and belonged to different club such as the Chichester Mortoring Club, BARC, Brighton & Hove. I know also frrom some scrutiniser's ticket attached to the dashboard that he race at firle hill in may 1966, did the speed trials in brighton in 1966 and also various events dated 13/03/1966 , 19/06/1966 and RAC 17/ ??/ 1966, teh other tickets are unreadable....I am quite happy to send high definition pictures if it helps the search. some pics of the car can be found on http://www.sebringsp...com/2080po.html and also http://www.carandcla....uk/car/C226601

I ll try to post some pictures of the tickets and badges as well as of the car when i manage to find out how to upload them on that post...meanwhile i am quite happy to send pics directely if it helps the search

I have also found that prior to being purchased by John Starley the car did belong to a D. A. Starkey in Bognor Regis and that the car was then White ....not sure if it was then modified by mr Starkey or by its second owner mt Straley

thanks

Pierre

Are you the same Pierre who wrote to Motor Sport many years ago complaining that his Sprite didn't suit his love life?

I have the copies of those and I very much doubt it is the same Pierre. More likely, our Pierre is the right age to be the result of one of the young man's more successful liaisons

Sorry to disappoint but I probably was still driving a pedal car in France at the time....Pierre is quite a common name in france ...

Anyhow a few more fact relayed to me by John Taylor from Taylor MotorSports Ltd and also memeber of teh SouthSea motoring club.....
The car is remembered by one of the member of the club and piror Mr Starkey i.e possibly from 61 (when i ws born) to 1964 it use to belong to a Charlie Page in Chichester (Page garage and then owner of the Blue Star Garage...)and was raced by him at different events mainly Hillclimbs and Autotests (hopefully some of those at Goodwood....). Anyhow the car was already in its blue and white livery and modified, aluminium panel in the boot compartement grp back , front and door, alexander anti roll bar and also adjustable shock absorbers at the back and alfin drum brakes.....now the interesting thing is that when i mention the first owner listed on the heritage certificate to John he talk about a Starkey motorsport outfit in the region so it is possible that it was purchased and modified by Starkey and that the car went on being sold to Page and the Starley.....really exciting stuff and history.....
