I'm seeking information about the American driver Roy Pike, who lived in England in the early and mid-'60s. He raced Formula Three and reportedly, DSJ once said of him that he was smooth and relaxed like Jimmy Clark. I'm told he married Katie Newman (Yank or Brit?) in December of '65.

Pike ran at Le Mans in '66 in a 275 GTB/C with Piers Courage. Either he or Courage (?) qualified fastest in their class and they finished 8th overall and won their class. He also co-drove a 275LM there in '68 with Paul Vesey, but did not finish. I'm looking for birth and (if appliable) death dates, where he lived or lives, and other details. Any help would be much appreciated.

P.S. Forgot to mention, he was apparently profiled in AutoSport 10/29/65. Anyone have that?

He was extremely quick in the Gemini in 1965. He should have won at Monaco (F.3) but got shunted out IIRC. I have a blurred image of him explaining what happened, to some friends who were sitting a few seats along from me.

I thought I found him a year or so ago till I realised the guy on the phone was considerably younger.

I'm sure I read somewhere that he lives near Sherborne ( Dorset ) which would tie in with reference to rural Somerset / West Country references elsewhere

Ernie Unger is looking to get in touch with Roy, anyone know if Roy lives in Frome or Cheddar in Somerset, I have tried phoning but nobody ever answers the phones in Frome and Cheddar, he is supposed to restore old houses perhaps, or does he perhaps live in Dorset,
